- ItemModerating Influence of Strategic Human Resources Management Practices on Small-Medium Firm Performance(Sumy University Journal of Business Ethics and Leadership,, 2018) Akpoviroro, K. S., Olalekan, A., & Salau. A. A,The paper examines the link between Strategic Human Resources Management (SHRM) and Small-Medium Firm (SMF) Performance. The objectives of the study are to explore the link between Strategic SHRM practices and Small-Medium Firm Performance and also to examine whether factors like size, maturity, planning level, and availability of human resource department make any difference in practicing SHRM to the selected firms in the food industry in Nigeria. Survey research design, which gives room for the use of a questionnaire, was employed. Regression, ANOVA, and multiple regression analysis were used to test the hypothesis. The findings show that R2 value of 0.511 reveals that Strategic Human Resources Management independently accounts for 51.1% of the variation of Small-Medium Firm Performance, which reveal that there is a significant relationship between Strategic Human Resources Management and Small-Medium Firm Performance. R2 value of 0.658 reveals that Size, maturity, planning level and availability of HR department (HRD) accounts for 65.8% of the variation in SHRM practices, which reveal that Size, maturity, planning level and availability of HR department significantly affect SHRM practices of the firms. Thus, the study recommends SMF to find ways to manage human resources more efficiently and effectively in order to remain competitive in the globalized market.
- ItemEFFECT OF CULTURAL ORIENTATION ON ENTREPRENEURIAL CLUSTER INITIATIVES IN KWARA STATE NIGERIA(International Journal of Advance Research and Innovative Ideas in Education, 2018) Abdulazeez Alhaji SalauThis research x-rays entrepreneurial cluster and Cultural Orientation in Kwara State. This study therefore surveyed the extent to which entrepreneurial cluster can be influenced by cultural orientation. A total of 153 copies of questionnaire were administered among rice cluster along the Patigi and Edu value chain in Kwara. Analysis of the data through the use of descriptive tables and simple regression analysis of the SPSS package, shows that a significant percentage of cultural orientation is required for a cluster to be entrepreneurial .The study therefore concluded that the cultural orientation must be put into consideration in entrepreneurial cluster initiatives.
- ItemLeadership Style and Employees’ Productivity: Evidenced from Nigerian Banking Sector(Kampala International University, Jounal of Humanities, 2019) Salami O. A., Salau A. A., Okpara K. K. & Abdulraheem I.The study focused on leadership style and employees‟ productivity evidenced from banking sector in Nigeria. The banking sector had been globally acknowledged as a pivot to the economic growth of any country. The study used questionnaires to elicit information from 80 staff of different banks in Ilorin metropolis through a simple random sampling technique. The data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. 94.12% acknowledged participatory as the most used leadership style in banking sector. Two hypotheses were tested. The result of hypothesis one shows that there is significant positive correlation between leadership styles (participatory and charismatic) and employees‟ productivity variables. That is r = 0.638 for effectiveness variable in participatory leadership style and r = 0.369 and 0.596 for efficiency and commitment in charismatic leadership style. The result of hypothesis two shows r2 = 0.825, which implies that about 82.5% of the variation in leadership style is explained by the variables in the model. The study thus recommends that participatory and charismatic leadership styles should be encouraged fully in the banking industry, so as to boost employees‟ commitment
- ItemEntrepreneurship and Innovative Capacity Among Agribusiness Clusters in North-Central, Nigeria(Al-Hilkmah Management Review,, 2019) Salau, A. A., Abdulraheem, I., & Mustapha, Y. I.The themes of entrepreneurship and agribusinesses have continued to echo with a wide range of initiatives around the country. Additionally, the economic instability, resource limitations and environmental uncertainties call for entrepreneurial initiatives as the option for agribusinesses to attain synergy. More so, the innovative prowess in the agricultural sector in Nigeria raises concerns about low attempt at salvaging agricultural sector from its present status. Hence, the study examined the relationship between entrepreneurship and innovative capacity among agribusiness clusters in Kogi, Kwara and Niger States of Nigeria. The study samples were selected using multistage sampling techniques and 342 copies of questionnaire were administered. The data was analyzed using Smart PLS-Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) technique. The results revealed that entrepreneurial initiatives have significant relationship with innovative capacity among agribusinesses. From the study, it was established that networking initiative (T statistics= 5. 628), technological adoption (T statistics= 4.478), and entrepreneurial orientation (T statistics= 5.912) were essential elements in ensuring innovative capacity. The study thus concluded that entrepreneurial initiatives have strong positive relationship with innovative capacity. The study recommended that technological advancement through research and development and conscious collaboration with relevant institutions should be encouraged.
- ItemAN ASSESSMENT OF PERCEPTIONS ON ENTREPRENEURSHIP AND SELF-RELIANCE AMONG COOPERATIVE SOCIETIES IN KWARA STATE, NIGERIA(2019) Abdulazeez Alhaji SalauThis study examined cooperative society’s perception on their entrepreneurship and self reliance activities, using kwara state, Nigeria as a case study. The study was hinged on two construct- the cooperative entrepreneurship and self-reliance. For the study, twelve (12) cooperative societies were selected. The finding revealed amongst other things that self-reliance is sequel to cooperative entrepreneurship as it allows members to govern their own lives and economies. Cooperative are community rooted and democratic which allows them to attain self-reliance through their futuristic plans and internally generated funds. The study concluded that cooperative entrepreneurship is premised on the principle of self-reliance and self-sustenance as members were able to govern themselves through cooperatives. It is recommended that viable cooperative entrepreneurship activities should be disintegrated from external influences of government and other agencies. Cooperative legislations should be tailored towards making cooperatives entrepreneurially friendly.
- ItemNEGOTIATION AS A CONFLICT MANAGEMENT TOOL AND EMPLOYEE COMMITMENT AMONG HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONALS IN KOGI STATE, NIGERIA(AL-HIKMAH MANAGEMENT REVIEW, DEPARTMENT OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION, AL-HIKMAH UNIVERSITY, ILORIN, 2019-07-17) Kamoru Lanre Akanbi, Kadiri Ismaila Bolarinwa, Ajeigbe Mahmud BabatundeThe primary responsibility of health care workers is to collectively see to the well-being of the patients, although there have been increased agitations by other medical professionals contesting this practice in recent time. This situation has led to interdisciplinary conflicts amongst the health care professionals. This study seeks to examine the impact of negotiation on employee commitment among healthcare professionals. Data were collected through structured interviews of eight executives purposively selected from labour unions within the establishment. Thematic analysis was carried out using Nvivo 12 software and four sub themes emerged: team spirit, job security, salary relativity and headship. The study found that all the themes have a positive relationship with employee commitment. Thus, well-structured conflict management strategies will lead to increased employee commitment. Managers must have the ability to understand negotiation skills and to deploy appropriate negotiation styles to extract the commitment of workers towards increased performance. The study therefore recommends that the government should take the issue of signed agreements during negotiation very seriously in order extract the commitment of employees, while management of healthcare institutions should get themselves acquainted with the dynamics involved in negotiation
- ItemMANAGING INTERPERSONAL RELATIONSHIP FOR QUALITY SERVICE: A PANACEA FOR CONFLICT MANAGEMENT IN TERTIARY HEALTHCARE INSTITUTIONS IN NIGERIA(Advances in Management, Department of Business Administration, University of Ilorin, 2019-07-25) Kamoru Lanre AkanbiMedical doctors traditionally head healthcare institutions especially in the developing countries. Recently, there has been increased agitation by other healthcare professionals contesting this practice, and this has come with an avalanche of challenges. In addition, there are complex employee features such as; the reoccurring frictions among healthcare professionals over headship in hospitals, while poor interpersonal relationships which has led to inter-professional conflicts, coupled with other corporate welfare packages which have further compounded issues and worsened these agitations. This situation has led to interdisciplinary conflicts amongst the healthcare professionals. Hence, the study examined the relationship between interpersonal relationship and service quality in Tertiary Healthcare Institutions in Nigeria. A sample size of 294 respondents was selected using a stratified random sampling technique from a population of 1,120 members of staff in the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital. The study used closed ended questionnaire to elicit information from the sampled population. The responses from questionnaire were analysed usingcorrelation analysis. The results revealed that correlation coefficients of 0.163, 0.351, 0.049 and 0.448 respectively. The study concluded that positive relationship exists between interpersonal relationship and service quality. The study therefore recommended that healthcare professionals should improve their interpersonal relationships which will lead to increased service quality to patients in the hospitals, as the relationships that exists amongst them will enhance efficient service delivery to patients.

In addition, there are complex employee features such as; non-implementation of signed agreements arising from negotiation, the reoccurring frictions among healthcare professionals over perceived discriminatory pay structure is another source of worry, coupled with other corporate welfare packages which have further compounded issues and worsened these agitations. This situation has led to a lot of disputes among the healthcare professionals which is affecting efficient service delivery to patients. Hence, the study examined the perceived impact of pay structure on labour related dispute and service delivery in healthcare institutions in Nigeria. Data were collected using descriptive study adopting the survey and case study designs and relying on qualitative method. The interview responses were analysed and transcribed thematically using NVivo 12 software, where each theme answered each research question, and the results anchored on the pay structure and issues of conflict. The study concludes that pay structure has a significant impact on labour-related disputes as all other explanatory variables also have an association with the explained variable. Therefore, the study recommended that the issue of pay structure should be based on qualification, equity and fairness in order for employees to get the desired job satisfaction that will promote industrial harmony and improve service delivery.
- ItemAnalysis of Entrepreneurship Pedagogy and Students' Mindset towards Self Employment in Nigeria(Journal of Management and Science, 2021) Salau A. A. & Akanbi L. KThe support from higher institutions to facilitate entrepreneurship development courses is at an alarming rate at all levels. Despite this support, the rate of unemployment among university graduates continues to increase daily. The study examined how entrepreneurial curricula in selected universities in Kwara State influence students' mindset on entrepreneurship. The study adopted a thematic analysis based on data collected from the in-depth interviews obtained from nine students across the selected universities in Kwara State. They concluded that students were engaged in industrial attachments, vocational skills, workshops, and group projects that greatly influenced students' mindsets toward entrepreneurial behaviours through skills acquisition and team building. The findings also revealed that the study has implications on strategy development for entrepreneurship development curricula of universities in Kwara State and students' goals. Therefore, it is recommended that the students' entrepreneurial mindset should be enhanced through career team building; the schools should encourage undergraduates to attend workshops, acquire vocational skills and also encourage the students on holiday jobs.

- ItemImpact of Communication on Customers’ Satisfaction in Hospitality Industry in Kwara State, Nigeria(African Scholar Publications & Research International, 2021-07-11) Adebayo Adeyemi AbdulwasiuThis research examined the relationship between effective communication and customer`s satisfaction with a particular reference to hospitality industry in kwara State. It is aimed at finding out the extent to which effective communication helps customer`s satisfaction in Kwara State. In an attempt to establish the thrust of this research, primary and secondary data were generated. Secondary data were sourced from articles textbook and journals and primary data was generated through self-administered questionnaire. Both descriptive and inferential statistics were utilized for data analysis with the aid of statistics package for social science. Descriptive data was analyzed using simple percentage table and regression analytical tools were used to test the hypothesis. From the empirical result obtained, it was discovered that (communication channel and message design) considered in this study were predictors of customer satisfaction. The result also showed that there was a significant relationship between communication channel and customer loyalty. Based on the findings from the study, it was recommended that both management and junior staff should develop more interest in best communication strategies to retain both new and old customers.
- ItemConflict Management and Organisation Performance in Nigerian Tertiary Institution(Journal of Management and Education, 2022-03-30) Ismaila YusufTertiary institutions in Nigeria operate in a turbulent environment that truncates their academic performance. Tertiary institutions are faced with numerous challenges in which conflict is essential to it. This prompts a need for appropriate strategies that would help them to build a healthy and uninterrupted working environment that would improve their performance. The question is now whether conflict management strategies adopted by the Federal Government of Nigeria as the employer (Management) to make a truce with the academic staff union of universities are jointly working to resolve the conflict between them that degenerated into industrial action. This study investigates the effect of conflict management strategies on organisation performance in tertiary institutions in Nigeria. This study explored quantitative technique, the questionnaire was distributed to 357 respondents using a convenience sampling technique. Multiple regressions were explored to analyse the data collected. The statistical findings indicated a positive significant relationship between determinants of conflict management strategies (such as accommodation strategy and compromising strategy) and organisation performance. The finding revealed that conflict management strategies have a positive significant impact on organisation performance in Nigerian tertiary institutions. The study implication showed that failure to utilise conflict management strategy effectively could hinder organisation performance. Therefore, it is recommended that the Federal Government of Nigeria should make a critical improvement on the strategies adopted and focus on accommodation strategy, compromising strategy as well as alternative dispute resolution (ADR) to create a sense of belonging and avoid industrial action. - ItemCAREER PLANNING: UNLOCKING THE KEY TO EMPLOYEE PERFORMANCE IN THE ACADEMIA(Veritas Journal of Marketing and Management, Veritas University, Abuja, 2022-06-17) K. L, AkanbiIn order to withstand the wave of competition, university management was forced to come up with ways and tactics to improve teaching, learning, and research output in order to survive the increasing obstacles and quick changes in the academic environment. However, the best way to keep and retain good employees, especially in higher education, is to provide them with opportunities for advancement. The goal of this research was to figure out how career planning may help employees perform better. With a sample size of 44 from a population of 57 summit university Offa, members, this study used a cross sectional research strategy and a standardized questionnaire for primary data collection, whereas SmartPLS2 software was employed to run Structural Equation Model (SEM) analysis. The result of findings revealed career planning has a majorly positive sway on employee performance with Beta Value 0.2854 and P value 0.049 (<5%). This suggests that, a unit change in career planning will amount to 28.5% increase in employee performance. As a result, the study finds that career development is one of the most important instruments for improving academic staff performance. As a result, it is recommended that Summit University, Offa implement a career planning programme, as this would increase employee output, and they should also add job training advancement in this institution because training has a significant impact on performance employees.

They account for the majority of businesses worldwide and they are important contributors to employment creation and global economic development. The study focused on the impact of entrepreneurial policy on the survival of Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (SMEs). The paper explored the issues involved in entrepreneurship policies, the problems of entrepreneurship and how these have threatened the survival of small and medium scale business enterprises in Nigeria. Trickledown effect theory was utilized. A desk review and reflexivity was also adopted for the methodology. While findings were drawn from past work. This paper concluded that entrepreneurship is crucial and necessary for the survival of Small and Medium Scale Enterprises. Also, government should provide enabling environment and favorable policies to enhance the survival of SMEs. The paper recommends a review of the previous policies and harmonizing with the existing policies to see if savings will be made and the aims joined together would be achieved. Oladosu, M.O, Akanbi, L.K, Ajeigbe, M.B.Digital banking channels are products of advances in Information and Communication Technology (ICT). The proliferation of telecommunications and the advancement of technology, especially mobile technology, have spurred growth of mobile banking. In Nigeria, the economy is largely cash oriented with increase in cash transactions despite the availability of technology for remote transactions. This indicated that a large number of people still prefer to do cash transaction than using digital channels. Hence, this study focused on the behaviour of customers who are hesitant to carry out financial transactions using digital banking channels. The study adopted an exploratory research approach using convenience sampling method to elicit information from eight selected bank customers through a semi structured interview guide as research instrument. Data was analyzed using thematic analysis which involved the identification of themes based on the responses to address the objectives of the study. The study revealed that the respondents have adequate knowledge of digital banking and are frequent users. Also, the respondents identified various levels of fraud as significant risks and expressed fear and concern about the safety of their transactions.
- ItemHUMAN RESOURCE INCENTIVES: EXAMINING THE EFFECT OF COMPENSATION ON JOB SATISFACTION IN PUBLIC HEALTH FACILITY IN KWARA STATE, NIGERIA(Journal of Business Analytics and Business Visualization, MAT Journals, 2022-11-29) Akanbi, L.K, Salau, A. A.Examining the impact of human resources incentives and its impact on employee job satisfaction among the staff of public health facility in Kwara State, Nigeria has not been fully explored in spite of the inherent and immense benefits. The study employed the descriptive research design method and collected data by selecting some healthcare staff of hospitals in Kwara State through the instrumentation of questionnaire and analysed using SPSS version 23, with a study population of 2,139 who are staff of public health facilities in Kwara State. The findings revealed a significant relationship between the three (3) dimensions of human resources incentives. However, it should be mentioned that the relationship between the dimensions of human resources incentives is not as strong as one might presume, this may be because there might be some other important variables or underlying factors that impact employee job satisfaction in Nigeria other than the three (3) tested dimensions of human resources incentives namely recognition, compensation and job security. It is therefore concluded that three (3) dimensions of human resources incentives selected for this research study catalyzed employee job satisfaction, thus generally recommended that supervisors should promote and ensure incentives like recognition, giving awards and commendations. Management and owners of public health facility should pay salaries promptly, give cash reward, ensure an effective insurance policy for employees and their dependants.
- ItemAcademic Entrepreneurship In Nigeria: A book of Reading(University of Abuja Press, 2023) Abdulazeez Alhaji SalauThe primary aim of this chapter is to highlight the roles of business incubation and science parks in facilitating academic entrepreneurship. This chapter explores how best to utilize business incubation and science parks in managing the connection between business incubation centres and higher educational institutions. It examines the activities of business incubation and science parks as they relate to entrepreneurial universities and provides an overview of the key challenges associated with developing entrepreneurial universities. Findings are presented in the form of a conceptual framework that facilitates an improved understanding of the benefits of connecting the capabilities, activities, and outcomes associated with higher education and business incubation. The goal of this chapter is to contribute to a general understanding of the economic growth and development impact of business incubators, thereby assisting governments and policymakers in creating environments that promote entrepreneurship and national development. The definitions, types, strategies, and programmes of business incubation are all covered in detail in this chapter. This chapter also covers the stages of incubation programs, including the start-up, early-stage, and expansion stages. The statistical evaluations of business incubators all over the world are also discussed. The chapter offers a lens by which to consider the design of BICs as they relate to Academic entrepreneurship and offers pathways to consider future research.
- ItemTECHNOLOGICAL BASED CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AMONG TELECOMMUNICATION FIRMS AND THE ENTREPRENEURIAL ECOSYSTEM BUILDING(FULafia International Journal of Business and Allied Studies, 2023) Abdulazeez Alhaji SalauThe telecommunications sector in Nigeria has been at the forefront of this convergence in recent years, utilizing technical breakthroughs to propel important projects and support the expansion of the entrepreneurial ecosystem in the nation. The extent to which digital inclusion duty affects ecosystem formation, despite the need for it, is yet unknown. The main goal is to investigate how digital literacy and responsibility affect the development of an entrepreneurial environment. The population of the study is the clients of the telecom enterprises in Kwara State. A mixture of observation and survey was used as the methodology for this study, and a questionnaire functioned as the tool for gathering data. The data demonstrated that the majority of digital literacy duties had a favorable and substantial influence on EEB. However, it was shown that one particular component of digital literacy had a detrimental effect on EEB. It was determined that responsibilities for digital inclusion have a substantial and advantageous influence on developing entrepreneurial ecosystems. To increase access to technology and the internet, the report advises telecommunications companies to invest in growing digital infrastructure, particularly in underserved regions. This will promote broad involvement in the entrepreneurial ecosystem and help close the digital gap
- ItemBUSINESS TECHNOLOGICAL INNOVATION AND CUSTOMER SATISFACTION AMONG COMMERCIAL BANKS IN ILORIN METROPOLIS(Journal of Accounting, Maanagement and Financial Technology (JAMAF), Summit University, Offa, 2023-01-17) Kamoru Lanre Akanbi, Sunday Joseph AdebayoUntil recently, business innovation studies focused on radical, technology-based innovations in large firms whereas innovation patterns in small enterprise had widely been neglected. Scholars and practitioners alike are concerned about the poor level of customer satisfaction in the banking sector. However, in recent times, since the cost of retaining existing customers has been confirmed to exceed that of acquiring new ones, the emphasis has been on retaining existing customers. This study examines how bank customers’ satisfaction could be improved through some specific innovative practices. This study focused on three banks within Ilorin metropolis in Nigeria. The descriptive research design was adopted.384 self-administered, structured questionnaires were distributed, out of which 332 copies were returned. Data was presented using frequencies and cross tabulations. One-sample t-test and Analysis of Variance were used to test hypotheses. The results of standard multiple regression indicated that product innovation has a positive and significant effect on customer satisfaction with coefficient value of .194 and a critical value of t=2.435, p-value (0. 016) < 0.05. Results also indicated that process innovation has a positive and significant with customer satisfaction. The coefficient has the value 0.257 and a critical value of t=3.532, p-value (0.001) < 0.05. Result indicated that marketing innovation has a positive and significant customer satisfaction. The coefficient has the value 0. 240 and a critical value of t=2.784, p-value (0.006) < 0.05. Technological innovation has a positive and significant effect on customer satisfaction as well with coefficient value of .261 and a critical value of t=3.076, p-value (0. 002) < 0.05. The study recommended that these banks should go beyond the conventional practice of outward show of appreciation of customer patronage, but rather work towards resolving customers’ complaints, and meeting their needs promptly, and should be proactive on innovation mix to enhance their performance.

B., & Toluyemi S.T.In the ever-evolving landscape of the Nigerian banking industry, the integration of technological advancements has become a pivotal factor in shaping holistic marketing practices and subsequently influencing customer satisfaction. This study investigates the profound impact of technological innovations on the adoption of holistic marketing strategies and its consequent effects on customer satisfaction within the Nigerian banking sector. Drawing from data collected from a sample population of Kwara State Polytechnic students, totaling 400 respondents, and utilizing the Structural Equation Model (SEM), this research explores the intricate relationship between technology, holistic marketing, and customer satisfaction. The findings reveal that as technology continues to reshape the industry, Nigerian banks are increasingly adopting holistic marketing approaches that align customer touchpoints, streamline operations, and enhance customer experiences. The study highlights the effectiveness of these strategies in engendering greater customer satisfaction, which, in turn, contributes to improved brand loyalty within the Nigerian banking sector. As a result, the study recommends that banks adopt holistic marketing practices by ensuring a coordinated and integrated approach to marketing in order to ensure customer satisfaction.
