The Centre for Islamic Contemporary Studies and Arabic Documentation is a Centre that aims at advancing a nuanced and scholarly understanding of Islam in the modern world. The Centre is to equip learners, scholars and researchers of Islamic and Arabic studies with the intellectual tools needed to engage thoughtfully with current global discussions surrounding Islamic thought, culture, and practice.
The Centre, therefore, offers a wide range of programmes that would lead to the award of Basic Certificates in the following:
1. Certificate in Quran Recitation for Beginners
2. Certificate of Proficiency in Arabic Language;
3. Certificate in Islamic Medicine
4. Certificate in Islamic Counselling and Spiritual Guidance;
5. Certificate in Islamic Banking and Finance
Admission Requirements
Candidates seeking admission into these programmes are expected to have a degree in any areas of study or at least an SSCE/ SISCE certificates or its equivalent.
B. Programme Duration
The programmes shall be run for a period of 3-months duration and six hours per week; Fridays evenings 3.00-6.00pm and Sundays 2.00pm-5.00pm for both physical and virtual.
C. Programme Fees
i- Application Form
The sum of Ten Thousand Naira (N10.000) only, shall be charged for obtaining an application form and Five Thousand Naira for acceptance payable to the university bursary.
ii- Tuition
The tuition fee for each programme is one hundred thousand Naira (N100,000) only. r.

The Programmes are:
1- Certificate in Quran Recitation for Beginners(CQRB)
1. Programme Overview
The Certificate in Quran Recitation for Beginners is a foundational programme designed for individuals who wish to develop the essential skills required to read and recite the Quran with greater accuracy, confidence, and fluency.
2. Programme Objectives
By the end of the programme, participants should be able to:
• Recognise and correctly pronounce Arabic letters and their different forms.
• Identify common vowel signs and other essential Quranic reading symbols.
• Apply foundational Tajweed principles during guided recitation.
• Recite selected short Surahs and passages with greater accuracy and confidence.
• Identify common recitation errors and make corrections with appropriate guidance.
• Develop a consistent personal practice routine for continued improvement after the programme.
3. Programme Target Audience
• Muslim students, artisans and related disciplines did have opportunity of attending Arabic schools.
• Muslim professionals, civil servants and other Muslims seeking to know more about their rlegion.
• Any other researcher seeking to acquire Islamic knowledge.
2. Certificate in Arabic Language Proficiency (CALP)
1. Programme Overview
The Certificate in Arabic Proficiency is an intensive language programme designed to develop learners’ practical competence and confidence in Arabic. The programme provides a structured foundation in speaking, listening, reading, and writing, while building essential vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, and communication skills.
2. Objectives
By the end of the programme, participants should be able to:
• Identify Arabic language alphabet and pronounce the correctly
• Show reasonable skills in reading, writing, speaking, and listening to Arabic.
• Exhibit their appreciable level of exposure to the language, culture and civilization of the Arabs.
• Interact in Arabic with foundational and intermediate proficiency in Arabic.
3. Target Audience
• Students of Islamic Studies and related disciplines who did have opportunity of attending Arabic schools.
• Researchers and professionals working with Arabic texts and documentation.
• Beginners seeking structured Arabic language training.
• Clerics, translators, educators in Islamic institutions, library staff and others that may be interested.
3. Certificate in Islamic Banking and Finance (CIBF)
1. Program Overview
This certificate equips participants with both foundational theories and practical applications of Islamic banking and finance. It merges Shari‘ah principles with modern financial practices, providing the skills necessary for careers in Islamic financial institutions, fintech, and economic policy-making.
2. Program Objectives
The program aims to:
• provide foundational knowledge of Islamic banking, finance, and economics.
• equip learners with practical skills in Shari‘ah-compliant financial operations.
• develop understanding of contemporary issues in Islamic finance and ethical banking.
• prepare participants for professional careers in Islamic banking and financial institutions.
3. Target Audience
• Bankers and financial professionals seeking knowledge in Islamic finance.
• Graduates of Economics, Finance, Accounting, and Business Studies.
• Shari‘ah scholars and researchers in Islamic economics.
• Entrepreneurs and policymakers interested in ethical finance.
4. Certificate in Islamic Medicine (CIM)
1. Program Overview
The Certificate in Islamic Medicine (CIM) offers a comprehensive introduction to health, wellness, and medical ethics from an Islamic perspective. Drawing on the Qur’an, Sunnah, classical scholarship, and modern medical insights, the program covers Prophetic medicine, contributions of Muslim physicians, preventive health, nutrition, mental well-being, and ethical healthcare practices. It equips participants to integrate Islamic principles with contemporary medical challenges, making it ideal for healthcare professionals, students, and anyone interested in faith-based approaches to health.
2. Program Objectives
The course aims to:
• provide foundational knowledge of Islamic medical heritage and Prophetic medicine.
• integrate Islamic perspectives with contemporary health and wellness practices.
• equip participants with ethical and spiritual dimensions of healthcare in Islam.
• promote research and professional practice in Islamic medical studies.
3. Target Audience
• Health professionals interested in Islamic perspectives on medicine.
• Students of Islamic Studies, Health Sciences, and Alternative Medicine.
• Imams, scholars, and herbal practitioners seeking formal training.
• General learners interested in Prophetic medicine and Islamic health ethics.
5. Certificate in Islamic Counseling and Spiritual Guidance (CICSG)
1. Program Overview
The Certificate in Islamic Counseling and Spiritual Guidance (CICSG) equips participants with practical skills to provide emotional, psychological, and spiritual support grounded in the Qur’an, Sunnah, and Islamic ethics. Integrating modern counseling methods with Islamic principles, the program covers marital counseling, youth mentorship, grief and trauma care, and mental health awareness, preparing learners to serve as effective counselors and spiritual advisors in diverse community settings.
2. Program Objectives
The program aims to:
• provide a solid foundation in Islamic counseling principles and spiritual guidance methods.
• equip participants with practical counseling techniques grounded in Qur’an, Sunnah, and Islamic ethics.
• address mental health, marital issues, youth challenges, and spiritual crises from an Islamic perspective.
• prepare participants to serve as community counselors, Imams, or spiritual advisors within Shari‘ah-compliant frameworks.
3. Target Audience
• Imams, Da‘wah workers, and community leaders
• Teachers in Islamic institutions and madrasahs
• Health professionals interested in Islamic perspectives on mental health
• Youth mentors, marriage counselors, and NGO staff
