- ItemA Comparative study of peace maintenance strategies at College of Education and Polytechnic Institutions in Kwara State(Journal of Collaboration of Education Faculties in West Africa. CEFWA, 2011) Afolabi S.OThe study focused on peace maintenance strategies adopted at college of Education and Polytechnic Ilorin in Kwara State. 100 academic staff were randomly selected from two institutions. Peace Maintenance Strategies Questionnaire was the instrument used while T test statistics was used to analyze the hypotheses generated. The findings among others shoed that here was no significant difference between the peace maintenance strategies adopted by the management of Kwara State Polytechnic and colleges of education while the causes of crisis in institutions of learning are similar. Effective communication process and good human relation between school manger, Staff and unions were suggested.
- ItemA SURVEY OF PROBLEMS HINDERING THE OPERATION OF OPEN UNIVERSITY SYSTEM IN OYO AND KWARA STATES, NIGERIA(Academia Research Internation, 2011-07-15) Dr. A. Y. Abdulkareem, Dr. O. G. Olorisade, Dr. S. O. Afolabi,National Open University which was formally established in Nigeria by Act 25 of 1983 aimed at bridging the existing gap between the education of male and female, able and disabled, young and old, and nomads in the society. This study focused on problems facing the National Open University in Nigeria as perceived by facilitators and students in Kwara and Oyo States. Stratified random sampling method was used to select 40 facilitators and 50 students from Kwara and Oyo State study centers. A researchers' designed questionnaire was used for data collection. It was validated and its reliability co-efficient, determined through lest-retest method, was found to be 0.76. Two research questions were answered and two research hypotheses were tested using percentage and chi-square statistics respectively. The findings of the study revealed lack of standard classroom, inadequate supply of electricity and inadequate funding. The study also showed that there is no significant difference between facilitators and students' perception of the problems associated with resource allocation and organization of the programme. It was therefore, recommended among others that course materials, computer-based media and other facilities should be made available at all study centers for students' use. Also, adequate funding and uninterrupted academic calendar of the University should be ensured while internet services should be provided at all study centers.

- ItemApplication of Research Findings to Classroom Teaching and Learning in Selected Nigerian Tertiary Institutions.(Journal of Arts, Science and Technology, University of Technology, Jamaica, 2020) Olayiwola OlorisadeThe need to improve the quality of tertiary institutions graduates through the application of research findings for classroom teaching and learning prompted this study, which investigated the application of research findings to classroom teaching and learning in Nigerian tertiary institutions. The study population consists of all academic staff members in Nigerian tertiary institutions. However, through the use of a multi-stage sampling procedure, a total of 305 respondents were sampled from three geo-political zones of Nigeria (North-Central, South-West, & South-East). Data were collected through the use of a questionnaire tagged "Research and Publications Effectiveness Questionnaire" (RPEQ). Descriptive statistics were used to answer the questions raised, while the Pearson Product Moment Correlation was . employed to test the hypotheses at 0.05 alpha level. The study found that academic staff research/publications effectiveness was low; while the application of research findings in classroom teaching was high, and students' responsiveness was also high when research findings were applied to classroom situations. It was recommended that successful senior academic researchers be made to mentor upcoming academics, and these being academic researchers should be further encouraged to apply research findings to enrich their classroom teaching. Adjunct staff with field experiences should also be encouraged to deploy the same towards adequately preparing students for the world of work.

A.For resources allocated to organization to be appropriately managed, it requires the dexterity of dynamic and focused people who are versed with various management theories and principles. It is against this background that this study examines the need for the application of Fredrick Wislow Taylor’s scientific management principles for efficient and effective management of higher institutions (universities, colleges of education and polytechnics) in Nigeria. The study highlighted lack of proper implementation of good educational policies, lack of adequate funding, misappropriation of funds, brain drain and poor monitoring and evaluation as some of the major problems inhibiting against higher institutions in Nigeria. To ensure that the challenges are addressed, the study suggests the need for proper application of Wislow Taylor’s scientific management principles (planning, organising, staffing, budgeting and controlling) for efficient and effective management so that the goals and objectives of higher institutions in Nigeria can be achieved.
- ItemASSESSMENT OF INSECURITY ON QUALITY EDUCATION IN NIGERIATERTIARY INSTITUTIONS(KWASU INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF EDUCATION (KIJE), 2023-12-01) Adam Ishola Mustapha, Kikelomo Wasilah Salle, Muritala Adaramaja SHEUHigh rate of insecurity in Nigerian tertiary institutions has raised deep concern among stakeholders in educational industry as sound and qualitative education hinge on peaceful learning atmosphere. Thus, the study assessed insecurity and quality education in Nigeria tertiary institutions. Descriptive research design was adopted for the study. The population of the study comprised all tertiary institutions in North –east, Nigeria. Convenience sampling technique was used to select 943 staff and students from University of Maduguri, Maduguri and Modibo Adamawa University respectively. Three research questions were raised and answered using descriptive statistics of mean and standard deviation. Questionnaire on Insecurity and Quality Education Questionnaire in Nigerian Tertiary Institutions in Nigeria (AIQEQ)” developed by Nwakpa (2015) was adapted to elicit relevant information from the respondents. The AIQEA was validated and subjected to reliability test using test crobach alpha method of reliability given reliability coefficient of 0.87 which affirmed that the instrument was reliable for the study. The findings of the study revealed that insecurity hinder quality education in Nigerian tertiary institutions. The study concluded that insecurity hindered quality education in Nigeria tertiary institutions. The study recommended among others that tertiary education should be adequately and genuinely financed in line with UNESCO 26% recommendation of educational funding for quality to be assured at this level of education, capacity building on security should be periodically organized for staff and students and CCTV should be strategically placed in the school environment for safety purpose

It adopted the descriptive research design of correlation type. Two thousand one hundred and sixty-five teachers in all the 44 schools in the area formed the study population. Twenty-two schools were randomly selected while 20 teachers were also randomly selected from each of the sampled schools, to make a sample of 240. The measures of principals’ administrative effectiveness are discipline, supervision of instruction and school plant maintenance. The “Principals’ Administrative Effectiveness Questionnaire” was used to gather information from the respondents. The instrument was validated by experts and with the use of Cronbach’s Alpha, it found reliability coefficient of 0.79. Mean and Standard Deviation were used to answer the research questions. The findings of the study revealed among other things, that the level of principals’ administrative effectiveness was average. The study concluded that public secondary school principals should intensify efforts in carrying out supervision of instruction, ensuring school discipline and maintaining school plant in order to boost their administrative effectiveness

- ItemASSESSMENT OF THE CHALLENGES FACING KWARA STATE COLLEGES OF EDUCATION, NIGERIA(JigawaJournalofEducationalResearch(JJER), 2024-07) Sulyman, K.O., Sijusde, A.F., Oluwo, M.K., & Adaramaja M.SThis study assessed the challenges facing assessment of the challenges facing Kwara State Colleges of Education, Nigeria. The study adopted descriptive research design of survey type. All the three kwara State Colleges of Education in Ilorin, Lafiagi and Oro were purposively selected. Proportionate sampling technique was used toselect50%ofthelecturers in the institutions, that is, 202 out of the 404. Challenges Facing Kwara State Colleges of Education Questionnaire was used to collect data for the study. The percentage was used to answer the research question, t-test and One-Way Analysis of Variance statistics were used to analyse the data. The findings revealed that insufficient fund, strike actions, epileptic power supply, insufficient furniture, poor access to internet by lecturers, brain drain, dwindling students’ enrolment, insufficiency of current textbooks in the library, favouritism and/or nepotism in the of appointment lecturers and politicisation of the appointment of provosts were challenges facing kwara State Colleges of Education in the country. It was recommended that Kwara State government should be more committed to funding Colleges of Education in order to facilitate adequate provision of the furniture, internet services and current textbooks in the libraries and optimal motivation of lecturers in order to help the institutions achieve their stated goals effectively.
- ItemChallenges And Prospects in The Efficacy of Technologies in The Transformation of Education for Tertiary Institutions in Nigeria(Afrotropic Discourse and Beyond, AMultidisciplinary journal of the Association of West African Universities, 2024-11-09) Abubakar Abiola YUSUF; Muritala Adaramaja SHEUAround the world, the importance of integration of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, robotics, and blockchain cannot be underscored, as these technologies are presumed to play a pivotal role not only in revolutionizing traditional educational paradigms but also in enhancing various aspects of the academic experience, and thereby contributing to the overall growth and development of tertiary institutions. It is on this premise that this study explored the efficacy of emerging technologies, delving into considering the transformation of education for tertiary institutions in Nigeria. First, the study provides a brief literature review on emerging educational technologies such as artificial intelligence, robotics, and blockchain. Next, it presented Technology Acceptance model (TAM) as theoretical contribution. Thereafter, it demonstrated that fear of job disruption, inadequate technology infrastructures, insufficient allocation of funds, and shortage of trained technology professionals, privacy and security concerns, and resistance to change were identified as some of the challenges of most of the tertiary institutions as a result of the use of different technologies. Furthermore, the prospects for transformation of education for tertiary institutions includes: personalized learning experiences, enhanced teaching, transparency and accountability, collaborative research opportunities, and administrative efficiency and resource management. It was concluded that appropriate utilization of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, robotics, and blockchain would offer exciting opportunities for innovative learning experiences in the institutions. It was suggested that stakeholders in education sectors should collaborate with non-governmental organizations and technology developers through continued research and development to ensure the transformation of education propelled by innovative technological advancements.

- ItemComparative Analysis Between Conditions of Service and Professional Commitment among Private School Teachers in Ilorin-South Local Government, Kwara State(Zamfara International Journal of Education (ZIJE), 2023-10-05) Adaramaja, Sheu MuritalaThis study investigated comparative analysis between conditions of service and commitment among private school teachers in Ilorin-south local government, Kwara State. Correlational research design was adopted for this study. Purpose of the study is to examine the relationship between teachers’ conditions of service and commitment in private secondary schools in Ilorin south local Government area of Kwara State, Nigeria. Two research questions and five hypotheses guided the study. The population of the study comprise 13145 (7145 male;6000 female) private secondary school teachers in Ilorin south local Government area of Kwara State during the 2022/2023 academic session. The sample size of the study consists of 364(Male 200; female 164) private secondary school teachers selected using proportional sampling technique. A Researcher-designed questionnaire titled ‘Teachers’ conditions of service and commitment questionnaire (TCOSCOQ) was used for data collection’. Reliability coefficient of 0.85 was obtained. Percentage was used to answer the research questions while Pearson’s Product Moment Correlation Statistic was used to test the hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance. The findings of the study revealed there is significant relationship between teachers’ conditions of service and commitment in private secondary schools in Ilorin south local Government area, Kwara State. Based on the findings of the study, it was concluded that teachers need to be committed to their responsibilities and to achieve this, their conditions of service must be favourable. The study therefore recommends among others that school owners should endeavour to pay teachers’ salary regularly and ensure that teachers’ salary are increase as and when due.
- ItemComparative Analysis of Teachers’ Job Performance in Private and Public Secondary Schools in Ilorin East Local Government, Kwara State(KONTAGORA INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF EDUCATION RESEARCH (KIJER), 2024-05-30) Kamaldeen Olohundare Sulyman, Muritala Adaramaja SHEU, Sherifat Olowo Salihu, Isiaq IbrahimThe study examined the difference between teachers’ job performance in private and public secondary schools in Ilorin East Local Government, Kwara State. Descriptive research design of survey type was employed in the study. The population of the study comprised all SSS three students in the 40 public and 36 private secondary schools in Ilorin East Local Government, Kwara State. Twenty public secondary schools and 18 private secondary schools were proportionately sampled, this represented 50% of each school type. Ten students were randomly selected from each of the sampled schools to make a total of 380. Researcher-designed questionnaire titled “Teachers’ Job Performance Questionnaire” (TJPQ) was used to collect data. The instrument was validated. Reliability of the instrument was ensured using Cronbach’s Alpha and coefficient of 0.68 was realised. T-test was used to test the hypotheses. Out of the 360 copies of the questionnaire distributed, only 327 were filled, returned and used for analysis. The findings of the study revealed that there was a significant difference between teachers’ job performance in private and public secondary schools in Ilorin East Local Government, Kwara State. Based on the findings of the study, teachers in public secondary schools should be more committed to their job performance while private secondary school teachers should not rest on their oars, in order to facilitate effective realisation of the school goals.
- ItemCorrelation Between Private School Teachers' Participatory Role In Decision Making And Productivity In North Central, Nigeria(Zamfara International Journal of Education (ZIJE), 2024-05-31) YUSUF, A.H. & SHEU, M.AThis study examined teacher participatory decision making and productivity in North Central private basic schools, Nigeria. The research design employed for the study was a descriptive survey research method design. The population of the study comprised of 31,566 teachers during the 2022/2023 academic session in all private junior secondary schools in North Central geo-political zone of Nigeria were considered as a suitable population for this study. A multistage sampling technique of stratified, proportionate and convenience sampling were was used to select 284 teachers in private schools from 3 States (FCT, Kwara and Niger States) in the zone as participants for this study from the target population. One main and four operational hypotheses were formulated to guide the study. The Teacher Participatory Decision Making and Productivity Questionnaire (TPDMPQ) was tested for reliability using test-retest method while Spearman rank correlation coefficient statistics was used to analyze the data and test for hypotheses at 0.05 significance level. From the findings obtained in this study, it was revealed that positive relationship exists between participatory decision making and teachers’ productivity, teachers’ participation in curriculum management had the highest mean. However, teachers’ participation in decisions on school finance had the lowest mean and there is also no significance relationship between school plant maintenance and teachers’ productivity. This reveals that, less attention was given to teachers’ involvement and effective participation in decisions on maintenance of school plants and school finance. The study concludes that teachers’ participation in school policy implementation, maintenance of school plants, curriculum management and school finance all have important roles in improving teachers' productivity It was recommended that teachers should be actively involved in school policy planning and its implementation including formulation of rules and regulation, late arrival of students and disciplinary policies to improve teachers’ productivity and learning outcomes for students.

- ItemEffect of class-wide and cross-age peer tutoring on students’ academic performance in junior secondary schools, Nigeria(Brookes College – Calgary Canada, 2021-09-15) Afolabi S.O and Falade CAThe study made comparative analysis of the class-wide and cross-age peer tutoring in junior Secondary schools in South-Western Nigeria. The study adopted quasi-experimental research design of the non randomized pre-test post-test of the non-equivalent control group. Four research questions were raised and two hypotheses generated at 0.05 level of significance. The population of the study was 372,467 junior secondary school students offering business studies in south-west during the 2019/2020 academic session out of which 230 were drawn as sample using purposive sampling technique. Business Studies Standardized Cognitive Achievement Test (BSAT) was the instrument used, which was validated by three experts from Kwara State University and Ekiti State University. The test re-test method of reliability was employed to obtain a reliability coefficient of 0.67. Mean and Standard Deviation were used to answer the five research questions raised. Analysis of Co-Variance statistical tool was used to test the two null hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance. Findings revealed that students taught using class-wide and cross-age peer tutoring performed significantly better than those taught using traditional teaching strategies. The study revealed that there was no significant gender effect on the academic performance of students taught business studies using class-wide, and cross-age peer tutoring. It was also revealed that there was no significant interaction effect of treatment and gender on students’ academic performance in business studies in junior secondary schools in South-west Nigeria. Therefore, engaging students in their studies allow them to be active in the learning process. It was recommended that teachers should employ both class-wide and cross-age peer tutoring in teaching business studies to encourage students to be active learners.
- ItemEFFECT OF TEACHERS’ MOTIVATIONAL STRATEGIES ON STUDENTS’ ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENTS: EXPERIENCE FROM NIGERIA(MALAYSIAN ONLINE JOURNAL OF EDUCATIONAL MANAGEMENT (MOJEM), 2015) Yusuf, A. A., & Fashiku, C. O.The study was carried out to examine the effect of teachers’ motivational strategies on students’ academic achievement in Kwara State public secondary schools in Nigeria. The design of the study was a descriptive survey. The population consisted of all the 6839 teachers and all students in Kwara State public secondary schools. The sample consisted of 330 respondents including 210 teachers and 120 students. Systematic and purposive random sampling techniques were used. A self-designed questionnaire titled “Teachers’ Motivational Strategies and Students’ Academic Achievement” (TMSSAA), and interview guide titled “Interview on Level of Teachers’ Motivational Strategies in Schools” (ILTMSS) were used to collect information on teachers’ motivational strategies. Data were personally collected and analyzed using frequency counts, percentage scores and Chi-square to test the hypotheses. The findings revealed that awards, scholarship, encouragement, evaluation of lesson, good teaching skills, guidance and counseling, among others, were motivational strategies used by the teacher. Teachers’ motivational strategies in relation to the students’ learning domains were found to be high and satisfactory while, level of students’ motivation was adjudged high and appreciated by the teachers and students. The results revealed a significant relationship between teachers’ motivation and students’ academic achievement with (r tab = 47.623, r cal.40.1*, p < .05); equally, no significant relationship existed between teachers’ motivational strategies and students’ academic achievement with (r tab= 30.412, r cal.40.1*, p <.05). Findings on the teachers interviewed corroborated the quantitative findings. In conclusion, teachers’ motivational strategies did not enhance students’ academic achievement in Kwara state public secondary schools, Nigeria. It was recommended that more experienced and qualified teachers should be employed in order for them to motivate individual students according to their needs in enhancing their academic achievement.
- ItemEMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE, YEARS OF EXPERIENCE, AND SELF-ESTEEM ON PRINCIPALS’ ADMINISTRATIVE EFFICACY IN PUBLIC SECONDARY SCHOOLS IN KWARA STATE(INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF RESEARCH IN EDUCATION AND PSYCHOLOGY (IJREP), 2021-01-27) Fashiku, C. C.The study investigated the joint and relative contributions of emotional intelligence, years of experience, and self-esteem in predicting principals’ administrative efficacy in public secondary schools in Kwara State. The population for the study comprised the entire 430 principals in Kwara State public secondary schools. Based on their years of experience, 195 principals were purposively selected. For data collection, one validated research instrument tilted Emotional Intelligence, Self-esteem, and Principals’ Efficacy Questionnaire (EISPFQ) developed by the researchers was used. Its reliability coefficient index was 0.75. The data collected were analysed using percentage scores and Multiple Regression Statistics. Based on the analysis, the results showed that most of the principals had a high level of administrative efficacy (50.8%). It also showed that emotional intelligence, years of experience and self-esteem when combined are significant predictors of principals’ administrative efficacy (51.3%; Adj. It was recommended that principals in Kwara State public secondary schools would achieve greater administrative efficacy in discharging their responsibilities for the actualization of school goals and objectives if their efficacy belief is strengthened and are well motivated.
