Forty facilitators and fifty students randomly selected from Kwara and Oyo States study centres participated in the study. Questionnaire was the major instrument used while simple percentage and chi-square statistics were used to analyze the research questions and the two hypotheses generated respectively. The findings of the study revealed lack of standard classrooms, inadequate supply of electricity and inadequate funding which are the variables of resource allocation and organization, as major problems facing the Open University Programme in Nigeria. However, the study revealed that there is no significant difference between facilitators’ and students’ perception of the problems associated with resource allocation and organization of programmes. It was therefore, recommended among others that adequate funds should be made available by the government, the institution should make course materials and computer-based media available at all study centres for students’ use. - ItemApplication of Quantitative Forecasting Models in a Manufacturing Industry(2017) Akeem Olanrewaju Salami, Kyrian Kelechi Okpara and Rahman Oladimeji MustaphaTime series forecasting analysis has become a major tool in different applications for the Manufacturing Company. Among the most effective approaches for analyzing time series data is ARIMA (Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average). In this study we used Box-Jenkins methodology to build ARIMA model for annual sales forecast for 7up Bottling Company Plc for the period from January 2010 to December 2015, given the available monthly sales data. After the model specification; the best model for production was ARIMA (1, 1, 1) and for utilization was ARIMA (0, 1, 1). A 12 months forecast have also been made to determine the expected amount of sales revenue in year 2016. The time plot reveals seasonal variation. It thus concludes that that there is increase in sales revenue of Company with time, hence these models can be adopted for sales, production, utilization and demand forecasting in Nigeria.

Data were analysed using descriptive statistics and inferential statistics of Analysis of Variance (ANOVA). The hypothesis was tested at .05 level of alpha. The study found that; no significant difference between the two experimental groups based on body composition variables of the participants. This means that 20 and 30 minutes of jogging had the same effect on the body composition variables of the participants. There was also no significant difference between the experimental groups and the control group. This means that the treatment was not effective on the experimental group's body composition variables. It was concluded that 20 and 30 minutes of the same intensity of jogging tend to yield similar results on body composition variables of these participants. - ItemResource assessment and feasibility study for the generation of hydrokinetic power in the tailwaters of selected hydropower stations in Nigeria(Elsivier, 2018-10-26) Ladokun Laniyi Laniran; Sule Bolaji Fatai; Ajao Kajogbola Razaq; Adeogun Adeniyi GaniyuThis paper focuses on assessing the potential and feasibility of increasing the hydropower production of Nigeria’s three main hydropower stations by installing hydrokinetic turbines behind the existing dams. The hydrokinetic turbines will capture additional power from the energy remaining in water currents exiting draft-tube outlets and tailraces of the dams. A 2.54 m2 prototype hydrokinetic turbine system being developed by the National Centre for Hydropower Research and Development, Nigeria was used to theoretically estimate the increased power generation capability of the stations. Preliminary results showed that there are considerable potentials in the range of kilowatts and megawatts in each hydropower station to augment the existing power infrastructure and this can be harnessed to alleviate the existing power problems in the country. It may also be an additional way of generating clean energy to mitigate the effect of climate change

- ItemAfrican culture and performance in transition: Evolution of Yoruba cultural elements from stage to film.(Dept. of Performing Arts, University of Ilorin, Nigeria and Dept. of Theatre and Film Studies, University of Cape Coast, Ghana, 2019) Joe OdedinaThere has been notable transformation in the style of play production, be it stage, video or film in Nigeria theatrical enactment. This, we observe, is hinged on sustenance of culture for a revival of the aesthetic taste in play production. It is in this direction that this study is intended to probe. The study examines the change in the use of some Yoruba elements employed in stage plays and home video production. We interrogate this work using Arnold Gesell’s theory of Maturation, 1925. To examine this work, we adopted a descriptive method of analysis, using the participant observer of some stage plays and some Yoruba home video films. By this method, we intend to narrate some scenes from a few Yoruba stage plays we had participated as observers and some video films we have viewed. Some of these motifs include Yoruba language, dance, music, costumes, oriki and even means of obeisance. Yoruba drama was made popular by Hubert Ogunde, Duro Ladipo and Kola Ogunmola around Nigerian independence of 1960. All the above three dramatists evolved from Christian church choir performance to professional stage drama and in the process, contributing to the development of contemporary Yoruba drama. Since their time, the cultural elements introduced by these early Yoruba dramatist pioneers, have gone through changes in order to adapt to the latest medium of video production. Our findings are that some elements have been compatible, while others have been distorted from stage to video. We also found other elements ineffective when incorporated into video production, yet others got elevated. We conclude that the evolution of some Yoruba cultural elements from the Yoruba stage drama to video production has enable many of these elements to be relevant to today’s audience. This has made Yoruba drama to be continuously popular, thereby sustaining the producers of such work. We recommend that various institutions of higher learning should incorporate video production with theatrical performance in order to help their students adjust to the latest means of drama production when they leave these institutions.

A reliability of the instrument was tested using Pearson’s Product Moment Correlation Coefficient and Coefficient of 0.80 was obtained which showed that the instrument was reliable enough to carry out the study. The data collected were to subjected appropriate statistical tools of frequency, percentage and mean scores for the demographic data of the respondents while Pearson’s Product Moment Correlation Coefficient was used to test the hypotheses formulated for the study at 0.05 alpha level. The findings revealed significant relationship between the state of school sport facilities, the school administrators’ managerial experience and management of school sport facilities and performance of youth athletes in Nigeria.
