However, 200 hundred students are considered in the study, 10 students were picked from a school comprising of 20 schools from two local governments in Ilorin, Kwara State. The acquired data was analyzed using the Regression and t-test statistical tools. The findings revealed that there is strong relationship between further mathematics and mathematics. It also revealed significant impact of further mathematics on academic performance of students in mathematics. The study also found that gender had significant impact on pupils' understanding of further mathematics and academic achievement in Mathematics. It was also discovered that school type had a significant effect on the academic performance of students in mathematics with knowledge of further mathematics. The researchers suggested that mathematics teachers be encouraged to teach further mathematics in school in order to strengthen students' scientific skills right from senior secondary schools. - ItemINFLUENCE OF DA’WAH ON SECONDARY SCHOOL ISLAMIC AND ARABIC STUDENTS’ MORAL DEVELOPMENT IN IDAH LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA, KOGI STATE(KWASU INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF ARTS AND SCIENCE EDUCATION, 2025-07) Muhammad-Jamiu Issa, Sanni Abdulhameed Muhammed, Lawal AbubakarThis study investigated the influence of Da’wah on secondary school Islamic studies students’ moral development in Idah Local Government Area, Kogi State. The study adopted descriptive survey design. The study sample was 160 Islamic studies students in Idah. Structural questionnaire was used to gather data and was analysed using mean and percentage Statistical tools. Finding revealed that Islamic lectures/talks and Qur'an recitation competitions were 100% available while Islamic knowledge quiz competitions, community outreach lectures, Islamic publications/newsletters and social media Da'wah were below 100% available. The result also revealed that Da’wah significantly influenced the secondary school Islamic and Arabic students’ behaviour with the mean value of 2.81. It was also found that Misinterpretation of Da’wah, difficulty understanding Qur’anic Arabic and local language, confusion between cultural Islam and religious practice and pressure to conform to peer groups rather than religious teachings were the challenges in Islamic and Arabic Secondary School with the mean value of 2.81. The last finding revealed that Da’wah presentation to cultural and linguistic background of students, incorporating multimedia resource, employing storytelling techniques that connect Islamic principles to contemporary life and ensuring presenters of proficient in the language instruction are the ways of mitigating the challenges of Da’wah Presentation in Islamic and Arabic Schools. This study therefore recommended that teachers should combine the traditional Islamic teachings with practical character development exercises. Teachers should use Quranic verses and Hadith as foundations for discussions about honesty, compassion, justice, and responsibility, then connect these principles to real-world scenarios students face daily. This approach helps students internalize moral values rather than simply memorizing religious texts
- ItemIMPACT OF PICTURE AND REALIA ON PERFORMNCE IN SKELETAL SYSTEM AMONG SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENTS IN AZARE, BAUCHI STATE NIGERIA.(Department of Arts abd Science education, 2025-07) Halima Yahaya and Adeola Adebimpe DanielThe study investigated Impact of Picture and Realia on Academic Performance in Skeletal System among Senior Secondary School students in Azare. The study adopts a Quasi-Experimental Design, involving Pretest, Posttest, Non-Equivalent Groups Design. The population comprised of all one 5,202 SS2 Biology students from 18 public Senior Secondary Schools . A sample of 110 students from two schools was randomly selected. The study involves two groups- an experimental and a control group. The experimental group was taught Skeletal system using Picture and realia while the control group was exposed to the same concept using Conventional Method. One instrument was used for data collection Namely Skeletal System Performance Test. The instrument was validated by experts and have reliability coefficient of 0.87, using Pearson Product Moment Correlation statistic. Two research questions and two null hypotheses were formulated to guide the study. One of the research was “What is the difference between the mean performance scores of students taught concept of Skeletal system using Picture and Realia and those taught same concept using conventional method?” The correspondence null hypotheses was “There is no significant difference between the mean performance scores of students taught concepts of Skeletal system using Picture and Realia and those taught same concepts using conventional method”. Research questions were answered using Mean and Standard deviation statistics while hypotheses were tested using Independent Samples t-test at alpha 0.05 level of Significance. The major findings reveal a major significant difference between the mean scores of experimental and control groups when taught concept of skeletal system, the mean academic Performance of students exposed to picture and realia was in favour of experimental group the results also show that male and female students in groups donot significantly differ in their academic performance. Based on the findings, the researcher concludes that picture and realia is gender-friendly. It is therefore recommended that among others, that the use of pictures and realia materials in teaching Biology in schools should be encouraged. Federal and State ministries of education should intensify effort to make facilities available to teachers, also, teachers should be encouged to attend conferences, seminars, and workshops
- ItemINTEGRATING HISTORICAL NARRATIVES INTO ART EDUCATION: A STRATEGY FOR ENHANCING CULTURAL IDENTITY IN SCHOOLS(Department of Arts and Science education, 2025-07-31) ADAORA IRENE OBIThe integration of historical narratives into art education plays a critical role in shaping cultural identity and fostering national consciousness among students. In many African societies, particularly in Nigeria, historical storytelling and artistic traditions have long been essential tools for preserving cultural heritage. However, modern educational systems often prioritize Western artistic influences, leading to the gradual erosion of indigenous historical narratives in art curricula. This paper explores how incorporating historical narratives into art education can enhance students' cultural identity and appreciation of Nigerian heritage. Drawing on Constructivist Learning Theory and Cultural-Historical Activity Theory (CHAT), this study examines how students actively engage with historical content through art, fostering deeper connections with their cultural roots. The paper highlights case studies of Nigerian schools where historical themes have been successfully integrated into art curricula, demonstrating the impact on students' self-awareness and creative expression. Additionally, the study discusses curriculum development strategies, policy recommendations, and challenges in implementing historical narratives in art education. The findings suggest that a revitalized curriculum that embeds historical storytelling within artistic pedagogy can serve as a powerful tool for nation-building, cultural sustainability, and educational enrichment. This paper calls for educational reforms that prioritize Nigerian historical narratives in art education, ensuring that students develop a strong cultural identity while fostering innovation through indigenous artistic traditions.
