- ItemCorrelational Analysis of Technostress and Job Productivity of Library Staff in Selected Academic Libraries in Kwara State(Journal of Advancements in Library Sciences, 2022-08) Yahaya Aliyu Ismaila; Abdul Hadi AyodejiThis study investigated correlational analysis of technostress and job productivity of library staff in selected academic libraries in Kwara State. Descriptive survey research design was adopted and a sample of 53 library staff were selected from Kwara State University Library, Al-hikmah University Library and Crownhill University Library by using total enumeration sampling technique. A structured questionnaire was designed to obtain information from 53 participants, 51 were returned and fully completed. While PPMC was employed to test the study's only null hypothesis, frequency counts and percentages were utilized to examine the data gathered for the five research topics. The survey indicated that the respondent had a high degree of job productivity. The study also found that majority of the respondents experience eye pain; backaches; headaches; blurred vision; and tiredness as the technostress symptoms while poor working conditions, work overload, lack of technical support, lack of technological competence and expertise, and technophobia are some of the causes of technostress to the respondents. The result further revealed that technostress affects job productivity of the respondents to some extent while technology-based training; getting adequate user-friendly software; staying healthy and eating proper dieting; effective time management; and taking frequent break are some of the ways of managing technostress by the respondents. The outcome also indicated a strong correlation between technological stress and the library staff's ability to do their jobs effectively. The study recommends that the management should organize technology-based training on the use of computer system, software and hardware for their staff which will help them to be more conversant with the use of the adopted ICTs which will make them less predisposed to experience technostress; and they should get adequate user-friendly software which will be easy for the staff to use without stressing themselves before completing a certain task.

Usman; Abdul Hadi Ayodeji; Abubakar S, YushauThis study was piloted on the impact of electronic resources on effective library management in Kwara State University, Malete Nigeria. The study adopted simple random sampling technique in which two hundred and seventy-eight (278) respondents were selected from the population of one thousand four hundred and two (1402) in the department. Data collected from the study were analysed using SPSS and frequency tables and percentage distribution used to present the results. The study established that Computer, E-mails, Internet, Online databases, CD-ROM databases, Electronic journal and e-book are the major types of electronic resources available for teaching and learning of library and information science while the purpose of use of e-resources included; research work, assignment, examinations and projects, easy availability of updated data and quick access to information. However, low bandwidth, poor level of computer literacy, unreliable power supply, Inadequacy of facilities and Inadequate networking computers were the major problems affecting the use of eresources for teaching and learning of library and information science. The study concluded that digital databases, online journals and e-books gives students more information and connect them globally, It therefore recommended that the provision of Internet facilities, provision of high and stable bandwidth, training of students and lecturers on use of ICT, and the need to make online learning through use of electronic resources interactive so as to appeal and sustain the interest of users.

- ItemMotivation and job satisfaction as correlates of job performance of library staff in Landmark University, Omu-Aran, Kwara State(2022) Abdul Hadi Ayodeji; Yahaya Aliyu Ismaila; Olusanya Dotun EmmanuelThis study examined motivation and job satisfaction as correlates of job performance of library staff in Landmark University, Omu-Aran, Kwara State. Descriptive survey research design was adopted and the entire 25 library staff constituted the population and sample of the study. Questionnaire was used to collect data from the 25 staff, out of which 23 copies of the questionnaire were completely filled and returned. Frequency counts and percentages were used to analyze the data collected to answer the six research questions while Product Moment Correlation Coefficient (PPMC) and multiple regression analysis were used to test the null hypotheses of the study. The study revealed that the level of job performance of the respondent is high; that appreciation, promotion, financial incentives, among others are the major motivational factors that influence job performance of the respondents while salary structure, job security, relationship with co-workers, institution’s policies, and work itself are the factors that determine the job satisfaction of the respondents; that motivation and job satisfaction influence the job performance of the respondents to a great extent while inadequate funds to support career development programme of the staff, insufficient technological skills, and lack of proper motivation from the superior are the major barriers to the effective performance of the respondents. The results of the tested hypotheses revealed that motivation and job satisfaction jointly influence the job performance of the respondents. The study recommends that library management should ensure that staff are constantly motivated and satisfied with their jobs which will in turn enable them to improve their performance and organizational productivity; library management in conjunction with the university management should provide enough fund to support career development programmes of the staff.

- ItemUTILIZATION AND MANAGEMENT OF SERIAL PUBLICATIONS AMONG UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS OF KWARA STATE UNIVERSITY, MALETE .NIGERIAN(Library Philosophy and Practice (e-journal). 2952., 2019-07) Rafiu Olabamiji Ayodele; Yahaya Aliyu Ismaila; Abdul Hadi AyodejiThis study investigates serials management in kwara state university library, determines the extent to which serials are been accessed and used and appraises the influence of it availability, accessibility and use of serials on undergraduates academic performance. Questionnaire administration method was adopted to accumulate data for the study. Combinations of both open ended and closed-form types of questions were used. The study reveals that most undergraduates’ students in Kwara State University consult serials for leisure and the few that consults serials either use serials in stock. Newspaper magazines were the major forms of serials used by the students in KWASU with Newspapers being the more utilized. University libraries and Internet were the major sources of serials used by the students. The result also reports that most of students from the University consult serials for informative and recreational purpose.
