- ItemSTAKEHOLDERS LEVEL OF AWARENESS, INVOLVEMENT AND IMPLEMENTATION OF HOME-GROWN SCHOOL FEEDING PROGRAMME (H.G.S.F.P.) IN OYO STATE(Dpartment of Early Childhood and Primary Education, 2024-11-11) Abdulwahab Rafiu, PhD; HAMZAT B. Opeyemi2 & OYEWUMI, N. Opeyemi; SIMEON Ipinlaiye Johnson, PhDThe study assessed stakeholders' level of awareness, involvement, and implementation of the Home-Grown School Feeding Programme in Oyo State. Descriptive urvey was adopted. Three research questions were generated. The targeted population comprised of all stakeholders (teachers, school proprietors and other relevant personnel involved in the Home-Grown School Feeding Programme) in Oyo State. A simple random sampling technique was used to select one hundred and fifty (150) participants from a population of stakeholders involved in primary schools implementing the Home-Grown School Feeding Programme in Oyo State. The sample size was determined based on the total number of teachers and other relevant personnel within the study area. This number was chosen to ensure adequate representation while considering logistical feasibility and the scope of the study. The sample was drawn from ten (10) primary schools, with ten (10) stakeholders, including teachers, school administrators, and other personnel, selected from each school to capture diverse perspectives. Descriptive statistical tool, mean and standard deviation were used for answering the generated research questions. The findings showed that stakeholders were aware of the home-grown feeding programme; they are involved and participating in the implementation of the programme to an extent beyond average; and some challenges were identified as hindrances to the implementation of the home-grown feeding programme in Oyo state. Conclusion and recommendations were made to beacon a strong stakeholder involvement in the program should be fostered; conduct regular sensitization campaigns at the community level, involve parents and community members in program committees and volunteering opportunities, and foster community ownership and support for the program; and develop a comprehensive monitoring and evaluation framework to track the program's progress, collect relevant data, and solicit feedback from stakeholders to use this information to identify areas for improvement and make evidence-based decisions.partnerships and collaboration among relevant stakeholders, including private sector organizations, civil society groups, and community leaders, to enhance coordination, resource sharing, and
- ItemPERSONALITY TRAITS AS PREDICTORS OF ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT AMONG UNDERGRADUATE EDUCATION STUDENTS IN PUBLIC UNIVERSITIES ADAMAWA STATE, NIGERIA(Kwara State University Press, 2023-10-12) Samuel Midenda Junior & Owonwami, I. T.This research investigated personality traits as predictors of academic achievement among undergraduate education students in public universities in Adamawa State. The main purpose of the study was to determine the level to which personality traits (openness, conscientiousness, extraversion, agreeableness & neuroticism) predict the academic achievement of undergraduate students. One research question and one hypothesis were raised to guide the study. The target population of the study was 2,287 undergraduate students in public universities in Adamawa State, Yola Nigeria. A sample of 330 participants was selected for the study through multi-stage sampling, two instruments were used. The Big Five Inventory model and theory by McCrae & Costa (1992) was adopted, and a Cronbach Alpha reliability coefficient of 0.875 was obtained for internal consistency. Pro forma was used to collect students' CGPA, Mean and Standard Deviation were used to answer the research question while multiple regression was used to answer the null hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance. The results revealed that the big five personality traits (Openness to Experience, Conscientiousness, Extroversion, Agreeableness, and Neuroticism) predict undergraduate student's academic achievement with a significant regression equation (F , 315) = 173.666, p = 0.000 p < 0.05 with an R of 73.6 %. The study concluded that the Big Five personality traits (Openness to Experience, Conscientiousness, Extroversion, Agreeableness, and Neuroticism) are good predictors of academic achievement of undergraduate students
- ItemEFFECT OF LOCALANIMATED CARTOON ON PRE PRIMARY SCHOOL CHILDREN INTELLECTUAL SKILLACQUISITION IN KWARA STATE(Kwara State University Press, 2023-11-19) Ganiyu Akanbi YUSUF, DR. USMAN TUNDE SAAD, Dr Joshua Sule MAMMAN, & DrAdedayo ADESOKANIntellectual skill deficits have led to academic failure as a result of not being able to think, recognise, and identify. Therefore, researcher investigated effect of local animated cartoon on pre-primary school children intellectual skill acquisition in Kwara state. This study adopted the pre-test post-test quasi-experimental control group research design. Purposive sampling technique was used to select 2 pre-primary schools because of certain characteristics (Urban and Rural) which are relevant to the conduct of this study while random sampling technique was used to select 2 schools one in urban and one in rural with total number of 49 participant. Children's Intellectual Skill Rating Scales (CISRS) was used to obtain pretest and posttest scores. The instrument was validated by some lecturers in the department of Early Childhood and primary Education. Items therein were established using test-retest method. Therefore, the Pearson Product Moment Correlation (PPMC) was used to establish the reliability coefficient of the instruments at .74. Data gathered were analysed using Analysis of Covariance (ANCOVA). All the hypotheses were tested at 0.05 level of significance. It was found among other that, there was significant effect of local animated cartoon on pre-primary school children's intellectual skill acquisition in Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State (F (1; 58) = 5.779, P < 0.05). It was concluded that local animated cartoon can enhance, facilitate, and enable the children to acquire some appropriate skills especially intellectual skill than the conventional method of teaching and learning. It was suggested among other that Caregivers should be enlightened on the effectiveness of local animated cartoon on children skills acquisition.
- ItemRELATIONSHIP BETWEEN EDUCATIONAL SUPPORT SERVICES AND STUDENTS' SELF EFFICACY IN UNIVERSITY OF ILORIN(Kwara State University Press, 2023-11-19) Habibat Abubakar Yusuf, (PhD)The optimal utilization of educational support services, including counselling, educational technology, and health promotion, holds paramount importance within university settings. These services facilitate the cultivation of students' self-confidence in their abilities and foster motivation to attain their academic and personal aspirations. This research delved into assessing the correlation between educational support services and students' self-efficacy at the University of Ilorin. The primary objective was to investigate whether a substantial association exists between the three dimensions of educational support services and students' self-efficacy.To achieve this, the study formulated one main and three operational research hypotheses as guiding principles. Employing a descriptive survey methodology, the research drew its sample from the population of 46,657 students at the University of Ilorin, using a convenient sampling technique that selected 389 students from various faculties. A meticulously designed questionnaire served as the principal tool for data collection, having undergone rigorous tests for both validity and reliability. The data obtained via an online survey underwent analysis employing Spearman's Rank Correlation at a significance level of 0.05, using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS).The findings revealed a p-value of 0.003, indicating a noteworthy relationship between the provision of educational support services and students' self-efficacy. The study concludes by recommending that the University of Ilorin's management ought to ensure the efficient and effective utilization of educational support services to enhance students' self-efficacy.
