(Kwara State University Press, 2023-10-12) Samuel Midenda Junior & Owonwami, I. T.
This research investigated personality traits as predictors of academic achievement among undergraduate education students in public universities in Adamawa State. The main purpose of the study was to determine the level to which personality traits (openness, conscientiousness, extraversion, agreeableness & neuroticism) predict the academic achievement of undergraduate students. One research question and one hypothesis were raised to guide the study. The target population of the study was 2,287 undergraduate students in public universities in Adamawa State, Yola Nigeria. A sample of 330 participants was selected for the study through multi-stage sampling, two instruments were used. The Big Five Inventory model and theory by McCrae & Costa (1992) was adopted, and a Cronbach Alpha reliability coefficient of 0.875 was obtained for internal consistency. Pro forma was used to collect students' CGPA, Mean and Standard Deviation were used to answer the research question while multiple regression was used to answer the null hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance. The results revealed that the big five personality traits (Openness to Experience, Conscientiousness, Extroversion, Agreeableness, and Neuroticism) predict undergraduate student's academic achievement with a significant regression equation (F , 315) = 173.666, p = 0.000 p < 0.05 with an R of 73.6 %. The study concluded that the Big Five personality traits (Openness to Experience, Conscientiousness, Extroversion, Agreeableness, and Neuroticism) are good predictors of academic achievement of undergraduate students

Intellectual skill deficits have led to academic failure as a result of not being able to think, recognise, and identify. Therefore, researcher investigated effect of local animated cartoon on pre-primary school children intellectual skill acquisition in Kwara state. This study adopted the pre-test post-test quasi-experimental control group research design. Purposive sampling technique was used to select 2 pre-primary schools because of certain characteristics (Urban and Rural) which are relevant to the conduct of this study while random sampling technique was used to select 2 schools one in urban and one in rural with total number of 49 participant. Children's Intellectual Skill Rating Scales (CISRS) was used to obtain pretest and posttest scores. The instrument was validated by some lecturers in the department of Early Childhood and primary Education. Items therein were established using test-retest method. Therefore, the Pearson Product Moment Correlation (PPMC) was used to establish the reliability coefficient of the instruments at .74. Data gathered were analysed using Analysis of Covariance (ANCOVA). All the hypotheses were tested at 0.05 level of significance. It was found among other that, there was significant effect of local animated cartoon on pre-primary school children's intellectual skill acquisition in Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State (F (1; 58) = 5.779, P < 0.05). It was concluded that local animated cartoon can enhance, facilitate, and enable the children to acquire some appropriate skills especially intellectual skill than the conventional method of teaching and learning. It was suggested among other that Caregivers should be enlightened on the effectiveness of local animated cartoon on children skills acquisition.

(Kwara State University Press, 2023-11-19) Habibat Abubakar Yusuf, (PhD)
The optimal utilization of educational support services, including counselling, educational technology, and health promotion, holds paramount importance within university settings. These services facilitate the cultivation of students' self-confidence in their abilities and foster motivation to attain their academic and personal aspirations. This research delved into assessing the correlation between educational support services and students' self-efficacy at the University of Ilorin. The primary objective was to investigate whether a substantial association exists between the three dimensions of educational support services and students' self-efficacy.To achieve this, the study formulated one main and three operational research hypotheses as guiding principles. Employing a descriptive survey methodology, the research drew its sample from the population of 46,657 students at the University of Ilorin, using a convenient sampling technique that selected 389 students from various faculties. A meticulously designed questionnaire served as the principal tool for data collection, having undergone rigorous tests for both validity and reliability. The data obtained via an online survey underwent analysis employing Spearman's Rank Correlation at a significance level of 0.05, using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS).The findings revealed a p-value of 0.003, indicating a noteworthy relationship between the provision of educational support services and students' self-efficacy. The study concludes by recommending that the University of Ilorin's management ought to ensure the efficient and effective utilization of educational support services to enhance students' self-efficacy.

It was found among others that there was significant main effect of word-wall on pupils' academic performance (F = 16.122, P < 0.05). It was concluded that word-wall (1; 106) can enhance better teaching and learning. It was suggested that teachers should be enlightened on the effectiveness of word-wall on pupils' academic performance through organized seminars and workshop.
