EFFECT OF DIVERSITY ON THE MORALE OF ACADEMIC STAFF IN KWARA STATE UNIVERSITY

Abstract
Diversity in the Nigerian University system is giving little of no attention but has severe consequences of its employees due to divergence in cultural beliefs and orientation as well as environmental upbringing. Diversity issues abound in the institution and it is expedient that Chen que pry chief defeat fier of at at on i hore i trademi contes Kwara State University, Malete. A cross sectional survey was conducted with a sample of 170 academic staff to test the hypotheses. The study adopted a corvenience sampling which involved selection of the section of population that provided information on the study. The data was analysed using standard multiple regression. The findings of revealed that diversity has significant effect on academic staff morale. The mixture of languages, ethnicity, religion and educational background enhance the morale employees in the academic institutions. This study thereby concluded that, diversity presents a great opportunity for organisations particularly the academic institutions in synihesizing different, ideas and teamwork, learning and growth, effective communication and diverse experierce among different gender, ethnic group religion, and cultural background. The study therefore recommends that the institution should target the recruitment of based on educational level, ethnic diversity, and religious diversity to reenergize the academia as their physical resilience, willingness to learn new things and knowledge of technology enhances productivity and thus assist in improving their morale within the organization.
