dc.description.abstract | Abstract The practice of painting in Nigeria today calls for an urgent need to impart the right value and skills into our students and upcoming artists. To achieve this aim, the training system needs be structured towards achieving the realization of this principal objective. This paper examines the impact of photography in the practice of painting, especially, as it relates to Nigeria. The paper sees painting and photography as a combination which brings innovations and breakthroughs in the practice of art. It goes further to explore some of the advantages and disadvantages of using photograph as a reference for painting. A historical and philosophical approach of research was adopted. On the whole, the paper makes a comparative study of the two media of art expression while making recommendations towards improvement. | |
