Abstract
Building a successful business that will be competitive in today’s business environment has
become a major concern for most business organizations across the globe. The objective of this
study is to investigate the effect of top management commitment on the performance of
Restaurants in Ilorin Metropolis. Leadership based theory was underpinned for this study. The
study adopted cross sectional research survey design. Simple random sampling technique was
used to select six (6) registered restaurants in Ilorin. Inferential and descriptive statistic was
utilized in the study, the hypotheses was tested using regression analysis via structural equation
modelling using Pls4. findings from the study revealed that top management commitment have
significant effect on the performance of Restaurants in Ilorin with an R2 of 0.459 and Pvalue of
0.010. The study concludes that top management commitment influences the performance of
restaurants in Ilorin. The study recommends that continuous TQM education should be
undertaken at all levels, even for those firms that have already acquired a high degree of
awareness of the concept (TQM). Additionally, the study also recommends that management of
the organizations should take appropriate measures to retain their customers.
