- Item2-D Spectral Analysis of Aeromagnetic Anomalies over Parts of Bida Basin, Nigeria(Ilorin Journal of Science, 2024-11-03) Issa T. A. Olatunji S. and *Omolaiye G. E.The average depth of magnetic sources was estimated in some portions of the Bida Basin. A 2-D spectral analysis of aeromagnetic anomalies over six aeromagnetic map sheets, each spanning an area of ½° x ½° on a scale of 1:100,000, was carried out. To identify residual features and draw attention to the more intense anomalies in comparison to the strong regional gradients, data augmentation techniques were used. Adopted techniques include various filtering approaches, trend surface analysis, and computations reducing to the equator. The result shows the two-depth source model of the part of the basin with an average depth of the deeper magnetic sources at 3.26 km, which corresponded to the magnetic basement surface. This layer may be associated with intra-basement characteristics including faults and fractures, lateral changes in basement susceptibilities, and magnetic rocks found in the basement. There are magnetic intrusive bodies within the sediments, as evidenced by the average depth of 1.22 km and a range of 0.68 km to 2.32 km for the shallower magnetic sources. The magnetic source's average depth of 3.26 km to the basement indicates a sufficient sedimentary thickness for potential hydrocarbon accumulation. The undulating nature of the basement surface may create traps for hydrocarbons, suggesting that the possibility of hydrocarbon accumulation cannot be ruled out.
- ItemA SURVEY OF STUDENTS AND FACILITATORS' PERCEPTIONS OF PROBLEMS IN OPEN UNIVERSITY SYSTEM, OYO AND KWARA STATES, NIGERIA(Academic Research International, 2011-07) Dr. A. Y. - ItemAfrican culture and performance in transition: Evolution of Yoruba cultural elements from stage to film.(Dept. of Performing Arts, University of Ilorin, Nigeria and Dept. of Theatre and Film Studies, University of Cape Coast, Ghana, 2019) Joe OdedinaThere has been notable transformation in the style of play production, be it stage, video or film in Nigeria theatrical enactment. This, we observe, is hinged on sustenance of culture for a revival of the aesthetic taste in play production. It is in this direction that this study is intended to probe. The study examines the change in the use of some Yoruba elements employed in stage plays and home video production. We interrogate this work using Arnold Gesell’s theory of Maturation, 1925. To examine this work, we adopted a descriptive method of analysis, using the participant observer of some stage plays and some Yoruba home video films. By this method, we intend to narrate some scenes from a few Yoruba stage plays we had participated as observers and some video films we have viewed. Some of these motifs include Yoruba language, dance, music, costumes, oriki and even means of obeisance. Yoruba drama was made popular by Hubert Ogunde, Duro Ladipo and Kola Ogunmola around Nigerian independence of 1960. All the above three dramatists evolved from Christian church choir performance to professional stage drama and in the process, contributing to the development of contemporary Yoruba drama. Since their time, the cultural elements introduced by these early Yoruba dramatist pioneers, have gone through changes in order to adapt to the latest medium of video production. Our findings are that some elements have been compatible, while others have been distorted from stage to video. We also found other elements ineffective when incorporated into video production, yet others got elevated. We conclude that the evolution of some Yoruba cultural elements from the Yoruba stage drama to video production has enable many of these elements to be relevant to today’s audience. This has made Yoruba drama to be continuously popular, thereby sustaining the producers of such work. We recommend that various institutions of higher learning should incorporate video production with theatrical performance in order to help their students adjust to the latest means of drama production when they leave these institutions.

- ItemEffects of aero-engine degradation on specific fuel consumption at varying ambient and turbine inlet temperatures.(FETiCON, 2023-08-04) I. O. OTAIKUThe paper presents the effects of aero-engine degradation on specific fuel consumption (SFC) at varying ambient temperature (ABT) and turbine inlet temperature (TIT). The ABT and TIT were varied using analytically developed equations. The SFC, ABT and TIT were modelled to determine the performance of the engine at each instance. A 4- stage compressor and a single stage turbine were investigated for 0 to 10% area reduction of the blades. Increase in degradation and margin to permanent failure were examined. The ranges of ABT and TIT considered were 295 to 325 K and 1083-1245 K respectively. SFC against ABT, TIT, mass flow rate and net power produced at each level of blade degradation were plotted. Results showed that for undegraded compressor blades, the changes in the ABT did not have significant effect on the compressor’s exit temperature. However, at 8% blade degradation, the effect was noticeable and became risky at 10% where the exit temperature seemed to be increasing beyond tolerable temperature of the material. It was also observed that SFC increased with increasing TIT. The results predict that margin to permanent failure of the engine would occur at 10% compressor’s blade degradation when the SFC would have risen to 0.5 kg/kWh, ABT (315 K), TIT (1100 K) and fuel flow rate at 0.4 kg/s. In conclusion, to prevent complete engine-out, the revolution per minute of the engine at these conditions should be reduced to 80% and landing procedures initiated. KEYWORDS: Specific fuel consumption (SFC), ambient temperature (ABT), turbine inlet temperature (TIT) and surface area degradation.
