- ItemAWARENESS AND UTILIZATION OF E-LEARNING TECHNOLOGIES IN TEACHING AND LEARNING OF BUSINESS EDUCATION COURSES IN UNIVERSITIES IN KWARA STATE(AL-HIKMAH JOURNAL OF EDUCATION, 2021-06-10) Nuhu, Sikiru Issa; Oladeji, Ayinde DaudaEducation is seen and globally accepted as a veritable tool for the development of any nation. This study examined the awareness and utilization of e-learning technologies in teaching and learning of Business Education courses in universities, Kwara State. Tworesearch purposes were formulated to guide the study from which two research questions and two hypotheses were raised. Descriptive research designwas used in this study. 300 lecturers and students made up the population for the study. There was no sampling as the population of the study was not much. A structured questionnaire tagged ‘Availability and Utilization of E-Learning Technologies in Teaching and Learning Questionnaire’ (AUETTLQ) was used for data collection. The questionnaire was subjected to face and content validation and it was equally pilot tested which yielded a reliability coefficient of 0.78. This shows that the instrument is high enough to be reliable. The data collected from the study were statistically analyzed using mean and standard deviation to answer the research questions. The null hypotheses were tested at 0.05 level of significance using independent t-test. The findings of this study showed that lectures and students are aware of synchronous e-learning technologies in teaching and learning of business education courses.It was concluded that lecturers and students are aware of both synchronous and asynchronous e-learning technologies in teaching and learning of business education courses but often utilize the synchronous e-learning technologies. It was recommended among othersthat lecturers and students should be sensitized through seminars and workshops on the need to maximally utilize available e-learning technologies in teaching and learning in Universities
- ItemAWARENESS OF INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS ON THE TEACHING AND LEARNING OF MARKETING SUBJECTS IN SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOLS IN KWARA STATE NIGERIA(Faculty of Education, Kwara State University, Malete, 2022-10-01) Nuhu, Sikiru Issa; Orinilowo, Afusat Olajire; Aransiola, Motinrayo JanetThe study examined the awareness of instructional materials in teaching and learning marketing subjects in senior secondary schools in Kwara State. Three purposes were raised from which three research questions and two hypotheses were formulated to guide the study. A descriptive survey research design was adopted for the study. 4324 students and 88 teachers in senior secondary schools in Kwara State made up the total population for the study. A sample of 432 (teachers and students) was drawn from the population using the Taro Yamane formula. The instrument used for the collection of data was a structured questionnaire titled Awareness of Instructional Materials on the Teaching and Learning of Marketing Subjects Questionnaire (AIMTLMSQ). Percentage and mean were used to analyze the research questions while the null hypotheses were tested using an independent t-test at a 0.05 level of significance. The study found among others that teachers and students are aware of audio, visual, and audio-visual instructional materials. It was concluded that teachers and students are aware of the instructional materials (audio, visual, audio-visual) in teaching and learning marketing subjects. It was recommended among others that the marketing subject teachers should endeavor to use and try to improvise instructional materials for effective teaching of commercial subjects in the secondary schools.

It also leads to self-employment, help in reducing unemployment and contribute towards development of the country. It is the desire of every community to achieve a sustainable level of economic development. This could be achieved through embarking on entrepreneurial activities by the citizens of such community. This is because the public sector cannot single-handedly provide the desired level of development. The success of a community in entrepreneurship depends on skills acquired by the people (entrepreneurs). This owes to the fact that education leads to creativity. Education also equips a person with relevant skills which would lead him/her to better performance in his/her chosen career. This paper addresses entrepreneurship skill that can be used to improve the development of communities in Kwara State. The paper finally made conclusion and recommended this among others that the federal, state and local government should frequently embark on entrepreneurship programmes so as to develop ideas and innovations in the society.

Three specific purposes of the study were framed, from which three research questions were raised and three research hypotheses. Relevant literatures were reviewed in this study. Descriptive research of survey type was used. The population of the study comprised of One hundred and forty (140) 300L business education students. The entire population was used. A well-structured questionnaire was used for data collections. The data gotten from the study were analyzed using frequency and percentage for demographic. Mean and standard deviation was used for research questions and independent t-test was used to test the null hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance. The findings revealed that Business education students in Kwara State Universityrequired business ideas in starting a business venture. (mean = 2.78, SD = 0.72). The study concluded that students need to have adequate knowledge about starting business ventures before embarking on such journey. Hinderances to starting a venture should be attended to understand the rudiment of running a business. It was later recommended among others that: Schools should endeavor to provide adequate business knowledge to students so they could establish businesses before graduating

This paper emphasises on qualities of Business Education Teachers for the implementation of business education curriculum in Kwara State Colleges of Education. The roadmap of teacher’s education was discussed as well as the availability and utilization of instructional materials. The paper spells out the expectations of business education teacher in line with the NCCE and other stakeholders. It was brought to conclusion that, business education curriculum in colleges of education can be properly implemented by providing adequate and appropriate instructional resources and ensure that all the resources are effectively used. This will enable business education graduates of colleges of education to acquire sufficient practical and professional competency to become self-reliant citizens in society and in the nation at large.
- ItemSchool Feeding Program in Nigeria: Special Schools Experience(Bumi Publikasi Nusantara (ASEAN Journal of Community and Special Needs Education 3(1) (2024) 11-28), 2024-03-01) Dada, Olubukola Christianah; Ogundele, Israel Segun; Nuhu, Sikiru Issa; Jinadu, Fiyinfoluwa Gbemisola; Ogunfeyitimi, Esther OluwatimileyinSchool feeding is a world bank initiative aimed at social safety, provision of health benefits to encourage school enrollment, attendance, reduction of absenteeism, increased cognitive development, and improved food security at the household level. School feeding is a program implemented in Nigeria, as in most developing countries. It is designed to cater to all categories of learners. A typical group of vulnerable learners in society who need to be fed through the school feeding initiative are students with special needs. These students exhibit diverse disabilities and require support. The study aims to investigate school feeding programs among students with special needs in Kwara State, Nigeria. Five purposes were formulated, from where three research questions were raised and two hypotheses were tested at a 0.05 level of significance. Relevant literature was reviewed. Qualitative and quantitative data were collected from students and teachers in special schools. 10 special education teachers were engaged in focus group discussion, while 40 teachers and 60 students responded to the 15-item questionnaire. The results revealed that school feeding is being practiced in special schools. The program has improved school enrollment and attendance in school and the students are healthier and are performing very well due to improved cognitive development. The government at all levels should ensure the continued financing of the school feeding program.
