    A Qualitative Analysis Of Conflict Management Style And Employees’ Performance Of Organizations In Northern Region Of Ghana

    The outcome of industrialisation and globalisation has lead organizations to be confronted with structural, staffing role, and resource allocation. This has resulted into various form of conflict and lead to significant changes in ways organization manage conflicts. In Ghana, one of the giant member states in West Africa is fast becoming industrialized and having challenges associated with the resulting complexity in both public and private sectors of the economy. The study thematically examined conflict management style and employee performance in selected organizations of northern region of Ghana. The study adopted phenomenology approach to understand the essence and underlying structure of conflict management styles through qualitative explorations of fifteen staff across the assemblies in the region. It is also established that the avoidance style mostly leads to avoidant decisions in organizations and also the avoidance style leads to avoidance of radical innovation which also bad for organizations and therefore the avoidance style is not not good for decision making and innovation in organizations. The study therefore recommended that employee should, imbibe the spirit of sacrifice and selflessness as a means of ensuring that conflicts are nipped at the bud before escalating.

    A QUALITATIVE EVALUATION OF COMPATIBILITY OF DIGITAL BANKING CHANNELS AND BEHAVIOUR OF NIGERIAN CONSUMERS

    Digital banking channels are products of advances in Information and Communication Technology (ICT). The proliferation of telecommunications and the advancement of technology, especially mobile technology, have spurred growth of mobile banking. In Nigeria, the economy is largely cash oriented with increase in cash transactions despite the availability of technology for remote transactions. This indicated that a large number of people still prefer to do cash transaction than using digital channels. Hence, this study focused on the behaviour of customers who are hesitant to carry out financial transactions using digital banking channels. The study adopted an exploratory research approach using convenience sampling method to elicit information from eight selected bank customers through a semi structured interview guide as research instrument. Data was analyzed using thematic analysis which involved the identification of themes based on the responses to address the objectives of the study. The study revealed that the respondents have adequate knowledge of digital banking and are frequent users. Also, the respondents identified various levels of fraud as significant risks and expressed fear and concern about the safety of their transactions.

    Academic Entrepreneurship In Nigeria: A book of Reading

    The primary aim of this chapter is to highlight the roles of business incubation and science parks in facilitating academic entrepreneurship. This chapter explores how best to utilize business incubation and science parks in managing the connection between business incubation centres and higher educational institutions. It examines the activities of business incubation and science parks as they relate to entrepreneurial universities and provides an overview of the key challenges associated with developing entrepreneurial universities. Findings are presented in the form of a conceptual framework that facilitates an improved understanding of the benefits of connecting the capabilities, activities, and outcomes associated with higher education and business incubation. The goal of this chapter is to contribute to a general understanding of the economic growth and development impact of business incubators, thereby assisting governments and policymakers in creating environments that promote entrepreneurship and national development. The definitions, types, strategies, and programmes of business incubation are all covered in detail in this chapter. This chapter also covers the stages of incubation programs, including the start-up, early-stage, and expansion stages. The statistical evaluations of business incubators all over the world are also discussed. The chapter offers a lens by which to consider the design of BICs as they relate to Academic entrepreneurship and offers pathways to consider future research.

    The existence of every organisation is a result of the peace and harmonious working relationship enjoyed by both the staff and management of such companies. Olam Flour Mills Limited is no exception, though the company records some differences emanating from internal wranglings and staff commitment issues. The objective of the study is to investigate the impact of job commitment on organisational conflict in Olam Flour Mills, Ilorin. The study, making use of a finite population of 232 staff members of the company, adopts a survey research design that is cross-sectional in nature. Using Krejcie and Morgan’s table (1970), the study’s sample size was determined to be 148. The study employed a simple random sampling technique because the staff share similar characteristics. The findings were analysed using multiple regression analysis to test the hypothesis. The results indicate that job commitment has a significant impact on organisational conflict, with a value of 0.423 and a significance level of 0.000. The study concludes that job commitment significantly affects organisational conflict. Therefore, management of conflict in Olam Flour Mills Ilorin among staff greatly affects the organisation. The study recommends that organisations should place emphasis on managing conflicts effectively because poor conflict management can have devastating effects on an organisation

    AN ASSESSMENT OF PERCEPTIONS ON ENTREPRENEURSHIP AND SELF-RELIANCE AMONG COOPERATIVE SOCIETIES IN KWARA STATE, NIGERIA

    This study examined cooperative society’s perception on their entrepreneurship and self reliance activities, using kwara state, Nigeria as a case study. The study was hinged on two construct- the cooperative entrepreneurship and self-reliance. For the study, twelve (12) cooperative societies were selected. The finding revealed amongst other things that self-reliance is sequel to cooperative entrepreneurship as it allows members to govern their own lives and economies. Cooperative are community rooted and democratic which allows them to attain self-reliance through their futuristic plans and internally generated funds. The study concluded that cooperative entrepreneurship is premised on the principle of self-reliance and self-sustenance as members were able to govern themselves through cooperatives. It is recommended that viable cooperative entrepreneurship activities should be disintegrated from external influences of government and other agencies. Cooperative legislations should be tailored towards making cooperatives entrepreneurially friendly.

    Coopetition in Small Business: A Strategic Option for Down Stream Photo Industry in Kwara State

    As a way of managing risk and maintaining stable income most micro and small enterprises have engaged in forward and backward diversification as well as joint ventures and mergers. This has introduced other dimensions to the relationships that earlier exists among companies. Hence, micro and small enterprises In Nigeria are largely becoming multifaceted in approach and relationships. Hence, this study examined the relationships that exist among companies in the downstream photo industries in Kwara State with a view to proffering implementable relationship among the firms. Exploratory research method is applied to gain better insight into the multi-faceted relationships among micro and small enterprises in the photo industries. It is observed that acquisition of equipment, expansion/diversification machine breakdown often results into multifaceted relationship. The study also finds out that supportive networking approach works better than strict competition. It is also revealed that buyers/suppliers in direct competition as well as partners in competition are the commonest multifaceted relationships among the down streams photo industries. The study recommends further studies into the management of the multifaceted relationships that exists among the MSMEs in Nigeria.

    Corporate governance, industry characteristics and quality of accounting information:

    Purpose: The importance of corporate governance, industry characteristics and the quality of accounting information in insurance companies has received more attention in developed countries, than in developing countries, such as Nigeria. In recent times, insurance companies in Nigeria faced several regulatory changes. This study examined the relationship between corporate governance mechanisms and industry characteristics, relative to the quality of accounting information. Originality/Value: This was the first study concerning the developing country—and Nigeria in particular—that focused on corporate governance, industry characteristics and the quality of accounting information in insurance companies, purposing a survey questionnaire towards the collection of data. Design/Methodology/Approach: A survey questionnaire, administered to stakeholders in the insurance sector, was applied to collect the data that was analyzed via descriptive and inferential statistics. Findings: The findings of the study revealed positive, significant relationships between corporate governance mechanisms, the level of competition amongst insurance firms, and quality of accounting information. Based on the findings, it was recommended that regulatory policies should be augmented to emphasise corporate governance mechanisms that promote sound quality of accounting information, such as awareness of the takeover market, board attitude to risk-taking, ownership structure, and the level of competition amongst insurance firms. Research limitation/Implication of the findings. The limitation of this study is that the findings are based on opinion through survey questionnaire from the respondents who are the stakeholders in the insurance companies in Nigeria. The implication of these findings is that the regulatory body of insurance companies’ various policies encouraged quality of accounting information to various group of stakeholders in the insurance companies in Nigeria.

    EFFECT OF CULTURAL ORIENTATION ON ENTREPRENEURIAL CLUSTER INITIATIVES IN KWARA STATE NIGERIA

    This research x-rays entrepreneurial cluster and Cultural Orientation in Kwara State. This study therefore surveyed the extent to which entrepreneurial cluster can be influenced by cultural orientation. A total of 153 copies of questionnaire were administered among rice cluster along the Patigi and Edu value chain in Kwara. Analysis of the data through the use of descriptive tables and simple regression analysis of the SPSS package, shows that a significant percentage of cultural orientation is required for a cluster to be entrepreneurial .The study therefore concluded that the cultural orientation must be put into consideration in entrepreneurial cluster initiatives.

    EFFECT OF DIGITAL LITERACY RESPONSIBILITY OF TELECOMS ON ENTREPRENEURIAL ECOSYSTEM BUILDING

    This study investigates the relationship between digital literacy responsibility of telecommunication companies and entrepreneurship ecosystem building. A quantitative approach was adopted to explore the association of digital literacy responsibility and entrepreneurship ecosystem building. The study was conducted using a survey of 400 entrepreneurs from Kwara state. The survey involved questions related to the digital literacy responsibility of telecommunication companies and entrepreneurship ecosystem building. The survey results were then analyzed using descriptive statistics. The findings revealed that digital literacy responsibility of telecommunication companies is positively associated with entrepreneurship ecosystem building. The study also found that digital literacy responsibility is an important factor in determining the level of successful ecosystem building. The study concluded that digital literacy responsibility of telecommunication companies is an important factor in successful entrepreneurship ecosystem building. The study therefore recommend that telecommunication companies should invest in expanding digital infrastructure, especially in underserved areas, to improve access to technology and the internet. They should also develop comprehensive digital literacy programs that cover a wide range of digital competencies. Tailor these programs to address the specific needs and challenges faced by entrepreneurs, ensuring they are equipped to navigate the digital landscape. Partner with entrepreneurship-focused organizations to integrate digital literacy training into existing programs.

    EFFECT OF DIGITAL MARKETING ON BRAND AWARENESS AMONG SMALL ENTERPRISES IN KWARA STATE

    The development of technology has expanded the transmission of information from traditional marketing communication to digital marketing. This emergence of online social network has become an alternative avenue to influence and seek customer patronage especially as the traditional marketing channels are getting obsolete. Most small organizations that cannot afford advertising now have digital marketing as other options to promote their products such as marketing-oriented social media pages, direct mail and email campaigns. This study examined the effect of digital marketing on brand awareness among small and medium enterprises in Kwara State. The study adopted cross sectional survey and phenomenological research approach using questionnaire and interview as research instruments. Small businesses in Ilorin metropolis were used as the study area with sample of 144 and ten respondents were selected using systematic and convenience sampling techniques for the questionnaire and interview respectively. The data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) and thematic analysis. The results revealed that integrated marketing communication variables have significant effect on consumer brand equity. The results show r square values of 0.879 and this implies that digital marketing element is essential in ensuring brand awareness, among the small businesses. This was corroborated by the thematic analysis of the responses from the interview that revealed the practical ways in which integrated marketing communication influence the brand equity among the small businesses. This can be done by getting more views on digital media from new customers who will enable them stand out from the competition with customer experiences. Businesses should integrate their messages to guarantee reliability of messages, and promote the company together with its brand awareness.

    ENTREPRENEURIAL SKILLS ACQUISITION AND EMPLOYMENT GENERATION IN KWARA STATE

    The acquisition of skills has demonstrably ascended to the forefront of societal priorities due to its undeniable impact on advancing socioeconomic well-being. In terms of the economy, gaining new skills revitalizes markets and creates new opportunities for unemployed graduates and young individuals. Youth unemployment remains an ongoing problem in Nigeria, posing significant challenges for the nation. Addressing this issue and finding viable solutions has become increasingly urgent.The qualitative study conducted in Kwara State explored entrepreneurial skills acquisition and employment generation among alumni of IVTEC AjaseIpo. Through face-to-face interviews with 12 alumni, the study focused on skills acquired, methods of skills acquisition, and employment through entrepreneurial endeavors. Findings revealed a synthesis of technical skills, entrepreneurial skills, ICT competencies, soft skills, and adaptability/resilience among participants. These skills were acquired through hands on training, real-world projects, industry internships, interactive learning, mentorship, and extracurricular activities. Participants leveraged their skills to establish successful entrepreneurial ventures, contributing to job creation and economic development in the region. The study underscores the importance of holistic skill development and entrepreneurship education in preparing individuals for the workforce and fostering sustainable economic growth. Recommendations include prioritizing practical entrepreneurship education in educational curricula, establishing entrepreneurship centers, facilitating industry internships, raising awareness about skill acquisition and entrepreneurship, and providing ongoing support for entrepreneurs. Implementing these recommendations can create an enabling environment for skills acquisition, entrepreneurship, and employment generation, driving economic prosperity in Kwara State.

    ENTREPRENEURSHIP AND INNOVATIVE CAPACITY AMONG AGRIBUSINESS CLUSTERS IN NORTH-CENTRAL, NIGERIA

    The themes of entrepreneurship and agribusinesses have continued to echo with a wide range of initiatives around the country. Additionally, the economic instability, resource limitations and environmental uncertainties call for entrepreneurial initiatives as the option for agribusinesses to attain synergy. More so, the innovative prowess in the agricultural sector in Nigeria raises concerns about low attempt at salvaging agricultural sector from its present status. Hence, the study examined the relationship between entrepreneurship and innovative capacity among agribusiness clusters in Kogi, Kwara and Niger States of Nigeria. The study samples were selected using multistage sampling techniques and 342 copies of questionnaire were administered. The data was analyzed using Smart PLS-Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) technique. The results revealed that entrepreneurial initiatives have significant relationship with innovative capacity among agribusinesses. From the study, it was established that networking initiative (T statistics =5. 628), technological adoption (T statistics = 4.478), and entrepreneurial orientation (T statistics =5.912) were essential elements in ensuring innovative capacity. The study thus concluded that entrepreneurial initiatives have strong positive relationship with innovative capacity. The study recommended that technological advancement through research and development and conscious collaboration with relevant institutions should be encouraged.

    EVALUATING THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN SUSTAINABLE AGRICULTURE AND CLUSTER EXCELLENCE IN KWARA STATE: A QUALITATIVE APPROACH

    Nigeria diversification of economy from crude petroleum dependency to other sectors of the economy, particularly agriculture has led in improvement schemes such as agribusiness clusters. Notwithstanding the frightening food security crisis with a growing population becoming increasingly dependent on imported foods, the activities of Fulani cattle rearers, over politicization of agricultural programmes, the dominant subsistence-oriented farm economy, insecurity, paucity of funds and credit, labour scarcity despite overall high unemployment and stagnant technology which had crippled the sector development. The study consequently evaluated the thematic link between sustainable agriculture and cluster excellence in Kwara State, Nigeria. The study population comprises of the twelve clusters who are beneficiaries of the Anchor borrowers Programme. A qualitative approach using focus group discussion was adopted using three groups that were purposively selected. The study found out that clustering businesses along value chain and geographical clusters result in job creation, community development and income generation. The study recommended that enabling environment should be created to enable the clusters perform these fundamental roles. It is also recommended that concentration of businesses in the same geographical location leads to economy of scale in production.

    Evaluation of Cluster Paradigm as a Tool for Agricultural Development in Nigeria

    Cluster development is a conspicuous and common feature in today’s economy. However, this concept is not exactly new and has been the object of attention from a wide variety of management and social scientists for much of this century. In recent years, this phenomenon has attracted renewed interest from academics, practitioners, and the African continent - which have become aware of its central importance in competitive strategy. An understanding of clusters adds an important dimension to the more commonly debated role of personal contact networks in the success of Agricultural. The study adopts a Meta analysis and the use of secondary data. It was concluded that Agriculture in the 21st century requires an urgent turn around. It was recommended that the government should formulate policies, provide legal framework and create enabling environment to support cluster development.

    Exploring the dynamics of umbrella brand and house of brand strategies on organizational performance:

    Research Aims: This study examines the impact of Umbrella Brand and House of Brand dimensions— brand awareness, customer trust, brand messaging, and brand decision—on organizational performance. Design/methodology/approach: Data were collected from 109 marketing managers and representatives of Coca-Cola in Ido, Lagos Mainland. The data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics with IBM SPSS version 27. Research Findings: The results show that brand awareness significantly predicts organizational performance (F(1, 99) = 302.14, R² = 0.46, p < .05). Customer trust (F(1, 99) = 102.24, R² = 0.46), brand messaging (F(1, 99) = 88.15, R² = 0.38), and brand decision (F(1, 99) = 78.01, R² = 0.27) also have significant effects. An additional analysis confirmed brand decision as a strong predictor (F(1, 99) = 110.01, R² = 0.48, p < .05). Theoretical Contribution/Originality: This study adds to branding literature by empirically demonstrating how brand strategy dimensions influence organizational performance. Practitioner/Policy Implication: Firms are encouraged to strengthen branding strategy components— awareness, trust, messaging, and decision-making—to enhance performance outcomes. Research limitation/Implications: The study is limited to a single company and region. Broader studies are recommended to validate generalizability across industries and locations.

    IMPACT OF PERCEIVED SERVICE VALUE ON CUSTOMER SATISFACTION IN SELECTED NIGERIAN COMMERCIAL BANKS IN LAGOS METROPOLIS

    Customer satisfaction is derived largely from the quality and reliability of products and services. However, almost every Nigerian bank encounters similar problems in meeting customer„s expectation of services. This study examines the impact of customers‟ perceived service value on customer satisfaction in selected commercial banks in Lagos metropolis. Purposive and convenience sampling techniques were used to select 60 customers per bank and a total of 283 out of 300 copies of questionnaire administered were returned from the five selected banks. The techniques employed for data analysis were descriptive analysis and Multiple Regression. The findings of the study showed perceived service to be positively and strongly related with customer satisfaction. The R value 0.759 depicts that perceived service values affects customer satisfaction by 75.9%. This implies that the proportion of variation in the dependent variable is explained by the regression model. The study concluded that customer perceived value is highly subjective and lies solely with the customer. Banks have the responsibility of identifying their customer‟s needs and work towards ensuring their satisfaction. It is recommended that banks should provide alternatives for all products and service channels as this has a means of enhancing customers‟ satisfaction. Customers‟ perception has a significant impact on customers‟ satisfaction and this determines repeat businesses, improved sales and also banks performance.

    Mobile Messaging And Employee Performance In Nigerian Banking Industry

    The integration of mobile messaging apps into workplace communication systems has transformed organizational operations, particularly in the banking sector. Despite the promising benefits, the impact of these tools on employee performance requires empirical examination. Globally, mobile messaging apps like WhatsApp, Telegram, and text messaging platforms are praised for enhancing communication efficiency, facilitating quicker decision-making, and improving overall productivity. However, the relationship between these tools and employee performance metrics remains underexplored, especially within the Nigerian banking sector. This study examines the effect of messaging apps on employees' work attitudes and the influence of multimedia messaging apps on target achievement. Adopting a quantitative research approach, data were collected through structured questionnaires distributed to employees across six branches of Guaranty Trust Bank in Kwara State. The population for this study comprised of all employees of Guaranty Trust Bank in Kwara State. The data was analyzed using multiple regression analyses. The findings reveal that text messaging apps significantly improve employees' work attitudes, evidenced by positive changes in behavior and engagement, with an R Square value of 0.555. Similarly, multimedia messaging apps, including WhatsApp and Telegram, significantly enhance target achievement by facilitating better communication and task efficiency, with an R Square value of 0.669. The study concludes that mobile messaging apps are crucial in boosting employee performance in the banking sector, aligning with previous research that highlights the importance of technological communication tools in enhancing workplace performance. It recommends that Guaranty Trust Bank implement comprehensive training programs for employees, focusing on effective use of both text and multimedia messaging apps to enhance work attitudes and achieve targets.

    Moderating Influence Of Organizational Reward System On Employee’s Performance

    This study explored the relationship between organizational reward system and employee performance. Com petition has become tenser in various sectors of the economy, organizations are harsh to boost employee morale at work and this situation requires management to be more careful in setting up reward system and remunera tions to its employees in addition to their wages and salaries. The objectives of the study are to examine the effect of Employee Benefit on Job Performance and also to investigate the effect of Work Bonuses on Em ployees Motivation. 124 copies of questionnaire were administered to Cadbury Plc employees in Lagos State, Nigeria to get primary data that treated and tested appropriate research questions and hypotheses accordingly. For the purpose of this study, correlation and descriptive research was employed. The Yamane formula was adopted to determine the sample size. The Statistical Package for Social Sciences and Cronbach’s alpha was employed. The study found out that employee bonus significantly affects employee motivation in business and employee benefit significantly affects job satisfaction in business. The study recommends that organizations need to have a reward system(s) as a standard which is considered fair and equitable. Not having a reward system in an organization will lead to resistance from the employees and also Incentive management and prac tices such as pay incentives and fringe benefits should be based on realistic and standard methods in accordance with industrial benchmarks, indices and procedures and should likewise conform to ethical valuations and practices
