- ItemAcademic Entrepreneurship In Nigeria: A book of Reading(University of Abuja Press, 2023) Abdulazeez Alhaji SalauThe primary aim of this chapter is to highlight the roles of business incubation and science parks in facilitating academic entrepreneurship. This chapter explores how best to utilize business incubation and science parks in managing the connection between business incubation centres and higher educational institutions. It examines the activities of business incubation and science parks as they relate to entrepreneurial universities and provides an overview of the key challenges associated with developing entrepreneurial universities. Findings are presented in the form of a conceptual framework that facilitates an improved understanding of the benefits of connecting the capabilities, activities, and outcomes associated with higher education and business incubation. The goal of this chapter is to contribute to a general understanding of the economic growth and development impact of business incubators, thereby assisting governments and policymakers in creating environments that promote entrepreneurship and national development. The definitions, types, strategies, and programmes of business incubation are all covered in detail in this chapter. This chapter also covers the stages of incubation programs, including the start-up, early-stage, and expansion stages. The statistical evaluations of business incubators all over the world are also discussed. The chapter offers a lens by which to consider the design of BICs as they relate to Academic entrepreneurship and offers pathways to consider future research.
- ItemAN ASSESSMENT OF PERCEPTIONS ON ENTREPRENEURSHIP AND SELF-RELIANCE AMONG COOPERATIVE SOCIETIES IN KWARA STATE, NIGERIA(2019) Abdulazeez Alhaji SalauThis study examined cooperative society’s perception on their entrepreneurship and self reliance activities, using kwara state, Nigeria as a case study. The study was hinged on two construct- the cooperative entrepreneurship and self-reliance. For the study, twelve (12) cooperative societies were selected. The finding revealed amongst other things that self-reliance is sequel to cooperative entrepreneurship as it allows members to govern their own lives and economies. Cooperative are community rooted and democratic which allows them to attain self-reliance through their futuristic plans and internally generated funds. The study concluded that cooperative entrepreneurship is premised on the principle of self-reliance and self-sustenance as members were able to govern themselves through cooperatives. It is recommended that viable cooperative entrepreneurship activities should be disintegrated from external influences of government and other agencies. Cooperative legislations should be tailored towards making cooperatives entrepreneurially friendly.
- ItemEFFECT OF CULTURAL ORIENTATION ON ENTREPRENEURIAL CLUSTER INITIATIVES IN KWARA STATE NIGERIA(International Journal of Advance Research and Innovative Ideas in Education, 2018) Abdulazeez Alhaji SalauThis research x-rays entrepreneurial cluster and Cultural Orientation in Kwara State. This study therefore surveyed the extent to which entrepreneurial cluster can be influenced by cultural orientation. A total of 153 copies of questionnaire were administered among rice cluster along the Patigi and Edu value chain in Kwara. Analysis of the data through the use of descriptive tables and simple regression analysis of the SPSS package, shows that a significant percentage of cultural orientation is required for a cluster to be entrepreneurial .The study therefore concluded that the cultural orientation must be put into consideration in entrepreneurial cluster initiatives.
- ItemENTREPRENEURIAL SKILLS ACQUISITION AND EMPLOYMENT GENERATION IN KWARA STATE(Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF ADVANCED RESEARCH IN MULTIDISCIPLINARY STUDIES (IJARMS), 2024-06) Abdulazeez Alhaji SalauThe acquisition of skills has demonstrably ascended to the forefront of societal priorities due to its undeniable impact on advancing socioeconomic well-being. In terms of the economy, gaining new skills revitalizes markets and creates new opportunities for unemployed graduates and young individuals. Youth unemployment remains an ongoing problem in Nigeria, posing significant challenges for the nation. Addressing this issue and finding viable solutions has become increasingly urgent.The qualitative study conducted in Kwara State explored entrepreneurial skills acquisition and employment generation among alumni of IVTEC AjaseIpo. Through face-to-face interviews with 12 alumni, the study focused on skills acquired, methods of skills acquisition, and employment through entrepreneurial endeavors. Findings revealed a synthesis of technical skills, entrepreneurial skills, ICT competencies, soft skills, and adaptability/resilience among participants. These skills were acquired through hands on training, real-world projects, industry internships, interactive learning, mentorship, and extracurricular activities. Participants leveraged their skills to establish successful entrepreneurial ventures, contributing to job creation and economic development in the region. The study underscores the importance of holistic skill development and entrepreneurship education in preparing individuals for the workforce and fostering sustainable economic growth. Recommendations include prioritizing practical entrepreneurship education in educational curricula, establishing entrepreneurship centers, facilitating industry internships, raising awareness about skill acquisition and entrepreneurship, and providing ongoing support for entrepreneurs. Implementing these recommendations can create an enabling environment for skills acquisition, entrepreneurship, and employment generation, driving economic prosperity in Kwara State.
- ItemOptimizing Service Delivery in Nigerian Banks: Leveraging Timeliness and Prioritization Strategies(African Journal of Management and Business Research, 2024-06-30) Abdulazeez Alhaji SalauIn the banking sector, time has to be managed because with less time high quality services will be provided that means a bank will be in a position to retain customers and get more of them hence generate more income. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of timeliness and prioritization at workplace: Analysis of cause and effect on service delivery in the Nigerian banking sector. This study uses descriptive design method, while the type of data used is primary data obtained through structured questionnaire. The population of the study was 384 customers of the three selected retail banking institutions with a sample size of 384 using Godden (2004) formula. The target population of this study is made up of all customers of First bank, Access bank and United Bank for Africa (UBA) located in Ilorin metropolis, Kwara State, Nigeria. Data was analysed using analysis of variance (ANOVA), while result of regression revealed planning of time has a positive and significant effect on service delivery with coefficient value of 0.194 and a critical value of t=2.435, p-value (0. 016) < 0.05. The study therefore recommends that Banks should go beyond offering basic services which are transactional in nature, but also concentrate on developing good relationship with customers with the sincere motive of satisfying and retaining them
- ItemTECHNOLOGICAL BASED CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AMONG TELECOMMUNICATION FIRMS AND THE ENTREPRENEURIAL ECOSYSTEM BUILDING(FULafia International Journal of Business and Allied Studies, 2023) Abdulazeez Alhaji SalauThe telecommunications sector in Nigeria has been at the forefront of this convergence in recent years, utilizing technical breakthroughs to propel important projects and support the expansion of the entrepreneurial ecosystem in the nation. The extent to which digital inclusion duty affects ecosystem formation, despite the need for it, is yet unknown. The main goal is to investigate how digital literacy and responsibility affect the development of an entrepreneurial environment. The population of the study is the clients of the telecom enterprises in Kwara State. A mixture of observation and survey was used as the methodology for this study, and a questionnaire functioned as the tool for gathering data. The data demonstrated that the majority of digital literacy duties had a favorable and substantial influence on EEB. However, it was shown that one particular component of digital literacy had a detrimental effect on EEB. It was determined that responsibilities for digital inclusion have a substantial and advantageous influence on developing entrepreneurial ecosystems. To increase access to technology and the internet, the report advises telecommunications companies to invest in growing digital infrastructure, particularly in underserved regions. This will promote broad involvement in the entrepreneurial ecosystem and help close the digital gap
