Abstract
Many studies have revealed that language violence has become prevalent across human societies of which Muslim worlds are inclusive. Islam as a religion of peace with a detailed code of conduct has presented rules and regulations for peaceful coexistence in the human society. With such rules, Muslims are expected not to engage in language violence. Their involvement in the vice therefore calls for concerns and deserves a critical appraisal. Accordingly, using the descriptive research methodology, this study explores misuse of language in the Muslim worlds with case study a notable Arabic newspaper. From this study, it is revealing that political and sectarian promotions are the lead factors responsible for language violence in the focused newspapers. The trends have however taken such a magnitude dimension that one party has resulted into tagging the other with disrespectful degrading names in the eyes of Islamic religion. This study found that careless choice of words in interpersonal communication by Muslims is responsible for language violence practices in the Muslim worlds contrary to the Islamic ethics. Therefore, to avert the growth violence in among the Muslims, this study recommends the use of polite words regardless of the political and ideological differences and this should be enforced by the publishers of such news outlets and the relevant governments
إن اللغة من منظور الإسلام سلاح ذو حدين، فكما أنها تنفع في تهيئة التواصل السلمي وضمانه فإنها قد تكدر صفو العلاقة بين مستخدميها فتتسبب في نشوب الصراعات واشتعال الحروب، ولذلك وضع الإسلام قوانين التواصل اللغوي لأجل سعادة أفراد المجتمع واستمرار العلاقات الإنسانية الرشيدة، وذلك لأن العنف بأشكاله لن ينجح في حماية أية فكرة مهما بلغت قوتها وتعددت مبرراتها. اعتمادا على المنهج الوصفي، تؤكد هذه الدراسة على أن الاتصال اللغوي المشوّه والمصطلحات الهدامة مثل الصوفية، والسلقية والألفاظ التكفيرية من شأنها أن تفكك النظم الاجتماعية، وتمنع التشكيل والتلاحم بين العلاقات التي تشكل وحدة المجتمع. وتدعو هذه الدراسة إلى التزام بآداب الحوار ولغة التسامح كوسيلة تعزيز التعايش السلمي بين أفراد المجتمع على اختلاف مذاهبهم العقدية والسياسية، ولا شك أن الأساليب التواصلية الراقية تساعد في إدارة الصراعات أو منعها وخلق مجال للتعايش.
