This study assessed market participation among sorghum farmers in Asa and Moro LGAs of Kwara State. A three-stage sampling technique was used to select 120 sorghum farmers in the study area. The study made use of primary data collected through of structured interview schedule and analyzed using descriptive analysis, Household Commercialization Index (HCI) and ordered logistic regression model. Result revealed that sorghum enterprise was dominated by men, accounting for 89.17% of the sampled respondents. About 91% of the respondents were married and with a mean age of 47years. The respondents were mostly small-scale farmers cultivating 2.4 hectares of land on average, and their experience in farming was on average of approximately 22 years. The market participation level among the sorghum farmers was high with average HCI value of 81.70%. Result of logistic regression analysis revealed that farmers’ high level of market participation was positively and significantly influenced by farmers’ age (β = 0.768, p≤0.05), farming experience (β = 0.126, p≤0.05), and marketing experience (β = 0.635, p≤0.01), quantity of sorghum produced (β = 1.243, p≤0.01), farm size (β = 1.339, p≤0.01), and unit selling price (β = 0.357, p≤0.01). Only transport cost (β = - 0.281 p≤0.05) and market distance (β =-1.73 p≤0.1) had negative and significant effect on farmers’ level of market participation. It is recommended that policies to sustain the high level of market participation recorded for this study should be encouraged by the stakeholders.
