Abstract
Many African countries are caught in the web of applying borrowed imported theories of leadership to tackle national challenges of ruling over citizens of different African nations. Those tested theories have not been very successful in bringing about the desired results and have mostly impacted negatively on many generations of African leaders. An Egyptian playwright,Mahmud Taymür had many years back, suggested a way out of the predicament of Africans adopting borrowed solutions to challenges of good governance in the continent. This paper intends to appraise this particular work of the playwright with a view to revealing his use of literary trappings to offer positive pieces of advice on building a nation through good governance. The rescarcher adopted descriptive and analytical methods to navigate this work under the following subheadings: Introduction, Methods, Discussion, Results, The Play and Contemporary Governance Challenges, Criticism of the Text and Conclusion.
