Abstract
Literary creative work is a field in which men and women
alike compete in terms of its creation and in terms of either
gender being the focus of the work. Therefore, the discussion of
female issues occupies a place of interest for scholars in world
literature today. The Arabic literary prose in Nigeria did not give
females the attention they deserve in the literature and its
discussions, which may lead to the accusation that the writers in
Arabic intentionally put women and their issues in the margins.
But for the first time, the Nigerian novelist, Hamid Mahmoud
Ibrahim al-Hijri, made women and their affairs take center stage
in his story entitled “Revenge.” This article seeks to present and
analyze the story in a literary way, through which the complete
devotion that the novelist gave to female issues in his work becomes clear.
This study employs the inductive and descriptive
methodology to present and discover the severe challenges
facing females that hinder their path towards the complete
freedom called for by modern world literature. One of the results
of this study is that achieving success in economic and social
crises is within the reach of females if they accept diligently and
appropriately to remove the obstacles that prevent them from
overcoming problems.
