- ItemAvailability and Utilization of Preschool Play Equipment(ASEAN Journal of Educational Research and Technology, 2024-01-03) Usman Tunde Saadu Ph.DThis study investigates the availability and utilization of preschool play equipment. A descriptive survey researchdesign was used. The population consists of 151 teachers,covering both private and public schools, according to the2018/2019 Kwara Public Schools Census Report. The studysample was 108 preschool teachers from private and public schools in Ilorin West, Kwara State. A simple random sampling technique was used. Data collection was carried out using a research instrument entitled “Play Equipment Availability Checklist” (CAPE) and “Play Equipment Utilization Assessment Scale” (RUPE). The face and content validity of the instrument was determined by research supervisors and knowledgeable lecturers in the Department of Early Childhood Education and Basic Education. Restructuring and deletion of irrelevant items is done as necessary. Instrument reliability was determined by the test-retest method and Pearson Product Moment Correlation (PPMC) was used to compare the two sets of scores. Two hypotheses were tested at the 0.05 significance level. The findings show that school play equipment is available, while the utilization rate of preschool play equipment is very low. There were no significant differences in the availability or utilization of preschool play equipment by school type. Based on the research results, it is recommended that the government and the private sector provide play equipment to schools. In addition, the government should encourage the use of play equipment and ensure that teachers incorporate it into their teaching practice.

The study randomly selected primary school pupils from four purposively selected schools, two of which were experimental groups that allowed after-school sports while the other two were control groups that did not allow it. The mental health of the pupils was assessed using observation and an observation guide was developed to measure anxiety, depression, and aggression. The data collected were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics, including ANCOVA and t-test. The study found a significant effect of after-school sports programs on the mental health of primary school pupils. However, there was no significant difference in mental health based on school type. The study followed ethical principles of research such as informed consent, voluntary participation, confidentiality, and data privacy. Overall, the study provides useful insights into the impact of after-school sports programs on the mental health of primary school pupils, and the findings could inform policies and programs aimed at promoting the mental health of pupils in Nigeria.

The importance of English language proficiency in the Nigerian education system is highlighted, as it serves as the medium of instruction and the language of textbooks. Despite its significance, students' performance in written and spoken English is generally poor. The study emphasizes the role of various factors, including student-related factors (interest, motivation, study habits), teacher-related factors (teaching methods, experience, workload), and parental involvement in students' academic performance. Parental involvement is seen as crucial in shaping children's educational and environmental transformation, with active participation from parents positively impacting children's development, behavior, motivation, and academic performance. The study also recognizes the influence of the school environment on academic performance, emphasizing the need for a conducive learning environment with adequate resources and support services. The findings suggest that parental involvement and a supportive school environment contribute to improved academic performance. Overall, this study underscores the importance of addressing these factors to enhance students' English language proficiency and academic achievement in Nigeria.
- ItemInfluence of Parenting Styles on Moral Skills Acquisition of Primary School Pupils: Community Service Perspective(ASEAN Journal of Community Service and Education, 2023-09-01) Usman Tunde Saadu Ph.DThis study investigated the influence of parenting styles on the moral skills of primary school pupils, which was taken from the community service program. The sample consisted of 378 pupils from both public and private schools, with their parents selected through the pupils. A descriptive survey design was employed. Four hypotheses were formulated and tested using inferential statistics, specifically Linear Regression, with a significance level of 0.05. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, including percentages and frequency counts. The findings of the study revealed a significant influence of parenting styles on the moral skills of primary school pupils. Each parenting style was examined individually to determine its influence on moral skills. The results revealed that the authoritarian parenting style influenced pupils' moral skills. Additionally, the authoritative parenting style influenced pupils' moral skills. However, the permissive parenting style had no significant influence on pupils' moral skills, and the neglectful parenting style had no significant influence on pupils' moral skills. In conclusion, it was found that authoritarian and authoritative parenting styles had a significant influence on the acquisition of pupils' moral skills. Therefore, it is recommended that parents be educated on the importance of adopting authoritative and authoritative parenting styles to promote the moral development of their children.
- ItemINFLUENCE OF PERSONAL HYGIENE ON SOCIAL SKILL ACQUISITION OF PUPILS IN MORO LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA, KWARA STATE(AL-HIKMAH JOURNAL OF EDUCATION, 2022-12-02) Usman Tunde Saadu Ph.DPersonal hygiene refers to all activities, actions and practices carried out by an individual to keep the body\ clean and healthy, it is imperative for pupils to maintain high level of cleanliness in order to stay healthy. The study employed descriptive research design and the population of the were all pupils in primary schools in Moro Local Government Area while sample size were 210 pupils, simple random sampling technique was used to select respondents. Observation rating scale was used for data collection titled Pupils’ Personal Hygiene Observation Rating Scale (PPHDORS). Two research questions and three research hypotheses were tested at 0.05 level of significance. Research questions were answered using frequency count, percentage and mean, while hypotheses were tested using independent T-test .The findings of the study revealed that there was a significant influence of personal hygiene on social skill acquisition of pupils (F (1,119) = 1297.917, P < 0.05), another findings revealed that there was no significant influence of personal hygiene on social skill acquisition based on gender (t = 1.943; df = 208; P >0.05), also, a finding revealed that there was no significant influence of personal hygiene on social skill acquisition based on school type (t = 1.692; df = 208; P >0.05). Based on the findings, it was concluded that pupils’ personal hygiene has a significant influence on skill acquisition. It was recommended that a great importance should be given to pupils personal hygiene in Moro Local Government Area of Kwara State.

Throughout this time, all sectors became paralyzed and education is inclusive and students were made to move about on the street without doing anything reasonable. Technology has eased the burden on us today and There ought to be none a justification for any student not learning in any situation. Apart from a circumstance like COVID-19, which led to the closure of schools some years back, the student population today is worrisome owing to the admission policy of carrying capacity that does not allow some institutions to admit more than what their resources could serve. Many qualified students today could not be admitted into tertiary institutions because of the problem of where to put them during classroom interaction. If Learning Management System is given top priority as the best option, some of these problems will not suffice again in our institutions. This platform provides an opportunity for both educators and learners to interact anywhere at any time and it reduces physical classroom interaction. This article examined the meaning of the Learning Management System, its advantages and many of the challenges confronted by the users and based on this, recommendations were made.
- ItemPUPILS’ RELATED VARIABLES AS CORRELATE OF SKILLS ACQUISTION IN CREATIVE ARTS IN MORO LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA OF KWARA STATE(UNILORIN JOURNAL OF LIFELONG EDUCATION 5(1) 2021, 2021-01-01) Usman Tunde Saadu Ph.DCreative Arts as a subject at primary school level is gradually going into extinction because of pupil’s attitude toward it and this could be seen in pupils’ performance in the subject. Therefore, this study examines pupils related variables as they correlate to skills acquisition in Creative Arts. The research design adopted for the study was descriptive design of correctional type. This population for this study comprised all the 2,495 primary five pupils. The simple random sampling technique was used to select 10 primary schools comprising 5 public and 5 private schools. The simple random sampling technique was also used to select 200 primary 5 pupils as sample size. The instruments used were Pupil’s Variables Rating Scale” (PVRS) and Creative Skills Rating Scale (CSRS) were validated and tested for reliability. The reliability index of 0.73 and 0.77was obtained. inferential statistics of t-test and multiple regression were used to test the research hypotheses formulated at 0.05 level of significance. It was found that there was no significant difference in pupil’s skill acquisition in Creative Arts based on gender (t = .464; df = 198; P >0.05), there was no significant difference in the pupil’s skill acquisition in creative arts based on school type (t = .1.188; df = 198; P >0.05) while there was a significant relationship between pupil’s variables and skill acquisition of pupils in creative arts in Moro Local Government Area of Kwara State (F (1,198) = 15110.618, P < 0.05. It was recommended among others that teachers should be encouraged to understand intrinsic and extrinsic variables of the pupils as it determines their skill acquisition in Creative Arts.

- ItemTeachers' Knowledge and Use of Multiple Disciplinary Measures in Curbing Pupils' Antisocial Behaviour(2024-03-01) Usman Tunde Saadu Ph.DThe study aims to investigate teachers' understanding of disciplinary strategies and their effectiveness in addressing antisocial behavior among students. The research methodology employed a descriptive survey design, and data were collected through questionnaires administered to teachers in private and public schools. The results indicate that teachers' knowledge of multiple disciplinary measures is low, highlighting the need for comprehensive training and professional development programs in behavior management. The study also found a significant difference in teachers' knowledge based on their qualifications, emphasizing the importance of advanced degrees and specialized training. Furthermore, years of experience were found to influence teachers' knowledge, with more experienced teachers demonstrating a higher level of proficiency in implementing disciplinary measures. Based on these findings, the study recommends the provision of training programs and professional development opportunities that specifically address behavior management strategies. Educational institutions should prioritize ongoing training and encourage experienced teachers to mentor their less experienced colleagues. Revising teacher qualification standards to include behavior management requirements is also suggested. Overall, this study contributes to the understanding of teachers' knowledge and practices in addressing antisocial behavior.
