    USE OF SOCIAL MEDIA TOOLS IN ACADEMIC LIBRARIES IN KWARA STATE, NIGERIA.

    The study explored the awareness and use of social media tools in academic libraries in Kwara State, Nigeria. The data was collected from a sample of 360 users through questionnaire method. Users were faculty and students of seven academic institutions in Kwara State. The major objectives are to know the awareness and use, effectiveness of social media tools in their institution and to dig out the problems in their use. It is found that lion’s share are aware of social media tools, more than half found it as effective, more than half regularly using, twitter is used most, almost cent percent are using it for personal research/study/examination, inadequate power supply is the major hurdle, respondents suggested to provide adequate funds. The study noted the following requirements needed, adequate power supply, continuous internet facilities and conduct training programs
