Despite the numerous benefits of green buildings, their adoption remains slow due to various barriers. This paper explores the challenges hindering green building adoption through a case study approach. The study identifies financial constraints, lack of awareness, regulatory challenges, and resistance to change as key obstacles. The findings contribute to existing literature by offering insights into strategies that can facilitate green building adoption within the tourism and hospitality industry in Nigeria.
- ItemOCCUPATIONAL HEALTH IN THE NIGERIAN HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY (A CASE STUDY OF PREMIER HOTEL, IBADAN, OYO STATE, NIGERIA)(Elizade University Journal of Research in Hospitality and Tourism, 2020-12-10) Falabi, Modupe; Folorunso, Olusola S.The hospitality industry provides services for people who are away from home regardless of whether it is for a long or a short period of time. These services can vary according to the specific needs of both the person away from home and the organization operating those services. The business uses plethora of human resources whose safety at work has not always be prioritized by their employers. Hence, the aim of the study is to examines occupational health in the Nigerian hospitality industry using premier hotel as the case study. In order to achieve the objectives of this to study, both qualitative and quantitative research methods were adopted. Data for this study was collected using questionnaire which was administered to 67 staff from different department of premier hotel. The findings were analysed using descriptive statistic for the quantitative data and the qualitative analysis was conducted as well. The findings revealed that work-related injuries and job hazards are common phenomenon in the industry while the management of the hotel have made tremendous effort to reduce the risk associated with working in the hotel through proper orientation of staff, employment of HACCP, and putting measures in place to control work place injuries and job hazards as applicable to all departments in the hotel. This study concludes that the employment of in-house health facility (staff clinic) by premier hotel should be model to all hospitality service providers as much as possible.
