Abstract
This paper focused on the achievement of the millennium development goal (MDG) on Universal Basic Education, which seeks to ensure that by 2015 children everywhere, boys and girls alike, will be able to complete a full course of primary schooling. The paper is an attempt to reveal the inhibiting factors towards the accomplishment of the Millennium Development Goal on Universal Basic Education programme. The study employed the descriptive research design, while data were obtained through field assessment. The research revealed that the achievement of the Millennium Development Goal on Universal Basic Education is bedeviled with factors that are government related, school, parent, teacher and also pupil related. Therefore, to build a strong and virile nation, the nation's universal basic education scheme requires a more determined approach.
