A Congolese writer, Sony Labou Tansi can be considered as the frontrunner of the African new novel and the magic-realist novel. From his first novel, La vie et demie, the fictive world of this prolific writer goes beyond the realm of reality. in his novel under review, Les sept solitudes de Lorsa Lopez, Labou Tansi reveals the influence of myth on the culture of Congolese people. Our analysis in this article, which is anchored on the anthropological theoretical framework, focuses on the correspondence between novel discourses and the extent of cultural and mythological thinking to which the writer takes recourse. in reality, the novels of Sony Labou Tansi incorporate large varieties of culture and myths and are presented as a heteroclite world. Sony Labou Tansi's work transcends the limits of the novel; his narration creates an imbrication of genders which is a hallmark of interdisciplinary or trans-cultural postcolonial work.
