Abstract
It is not hidden from us how education was the principle of Islamic culture and
how Islam was the principle of education, or rather how reading and writing
became the fundamental factor for spreading knowledge. Wherever Islam set its
foot, education accompanied it. It was emphasized that every Muslim should
grasp some knowledge of the Arabic language and learn enough to perform
religious duties such as prayer, almsgiving, fasting, and more. Education thus
became an integral part of Islam, and one should adhere to it in all
circumstances. The city of Ilorin is one of the northern cities with a long history in
Islam, and it still enjoys a refined Islamic culture. This has made it a gateway
where preachers call to Allah, and a destination for those who love the language
of the Qur’an. The city has been influenced in its scholarly and religious life by
the purity of Quranic schools and traditional scientific centers, whose effective
roles in spreading the Islamic call in this vibrant city should not be
underestimated. The purpose of this research is to shed light on the extent of
contributions made by these diligent traditional Islamic schools in the field of
spreading the Islamic call in this cherished city. This was achieved by gathering
information scattered in various sources and through communication with
scholars in the city. The research concludes with findings, recommendations, and
cultures.
